Re: ideas about star trek tech
Yeah, but the probability of the enemy striking the missile is directly proportional to the missile's volume, and so, the probability of the enemy stopping the attack before the missile collides is bigger, and the effect rate gets down
Re: ideas about star trek tech
hey I have talked to a m8 that studyed phisics at uni and we have come to a conclusion that a magnetic feild may work effectively for warp drive.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
I don't really understand how a warp drive works... If someone could explain...
Re: ideas about star trek tech
hmm how to explane
ah yes its a wave in space that allows a ship to move space rather than move through space there by allowing great speeds.
thats the short verson.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Oh, that wikipedia article explained a lot!
Well, if we could simulate gravity, we could have artificial gravity, required to space-travel, and the means to create a distortion that allowed an object (in this case, a starship) to travel faster than a light beam outside the distortion (Since a light beam inside the distortion would travel faster than the ship)

Re: ideas about star trek tech
How could we modify/create gravity? We need to know how it works first...

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Yes, but i didn't understand it because of your bad spelling and because you don't use dots nor commas...
Re: ideas about star trek tech
Yeah, you're a jerk (Joking)... If we made a starship with the size of a planet and we could manipulate the gravitic field of the ship, we could warp travel...
Re: ideas about star trek tech
If there was a planet near, everything would probably get killed off...those ships could become uber-weapos

Re: ideas about star trek tech
uhh I cant say what the effects of a warp feild would be on life on a nearby planet.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
yea but somehow i doubt a ripple in space would do that but it may make some gravity distortions.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
Lived to see it? My dear Jtull, do you have any idea what you are saying? You know that the corrupt Bush regime will do everything in its power to create global chaos!
Anyways... as we develop more and more in the scientific field, we will exponentially increase our knowledge-gathering rate, because we use our knowledge to create technology which increases our rate of knowledge gathering, rinse and repeat. We will definitely live to see some amazing things, I think.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
No, it wasn't...
I'll TRY to explain that better:
We have a knowledge-gathering rate, that is the amount of knowledge we get for time unit.
We use the knowledge we get to develop technology.
That technology helps us to get more knowledge faster, which means, increases our knowledge-gathering rate.
With the knowledge we got from the new technology, we will create more and better technology, that will increase our knowledge-gathering rate, and it becomes a cycle, but the speed of the cycle grows exponentially.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
That was half on topic. Are there any other ways of creating/manipulating gravity without implicating planet-sized ships?
Re: ideas about star trek tech
weel enrgy can act like a mass so we could make a wave of pure energy.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
How about that atom smashing machine these russian scientists are waxing lyrical about? Apparently that has the potential to create wormholes

Re: ideas about star trek tech
oh yea that its a kind of partical accelerater.
and it could but very unlikely make a thing that would destroy the univerce.

Huh, these people don't have very good reading comprehension skills.Alkanosis wrote:Lived to see it? My dear Jtull, do you have any idea what you are saying? You know that the corrupt Bush regime will do everything in its power to create global chaos!

Re: ideas about star trek tech
not realy and anyway I have more ideas on warp drive it ya want to here them.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
well I did think of one that would use a gravitatinal distortian feild but Im not shure that it would work all that well.
and there is the "subspace wave".
hmm ill go find the rest of them.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
well it would be kinda like a black hole in the sence that the gravaity would grow expedentualy and thereby distort space. the science behind it is hard to explane uceing a keybord.

You forgot to mention the bad spelling too, Jtull. It appears you are using IE again...
And how do we use gravity to create spatial distortions, may I ask?

Re: ideas about star trek tech
That sounds worryingly like a black hole....

Re: ideas about star trek tech
well think of space like a rubber mat and if you put a weight on it it will make a dent the heveyer the objet the bigger the dent and that dent is effectively gravity so a huge weight would make a gapeing chasim and so would have a huge gravitatinal force like a black hole.
so a gravitatinal force not quite as powerfull as a black hole infront of a ship would draw it towards it with a ladge force and also make a distortain in space but the problim that I have found in this is that as far as I know there in no negitive gravity force and so it would be hard to make a wave in space in witch you could make a ship move in.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
All right, enough with the warp drive.
How could we make holograms? I have an idea: nano-particles magnetically controlled equipped with nano-Light-Emitting-Diodes. With electro-magnets and wireless technology, a computer would be able to do it...

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Yeah, and they're no force fields involved. Too bad we don't have that technology yet.
