Re: ideas about star trek tech
How, though? That's the problem. How do you create something that fluxes in between space so it can pass through ship hulls?

Re: ideas about star trek tech
well I have no idea where you guys currently are on this topic and I'm too lazy right now to read all of it, but they have made a cloaking device, I wish I could find the article. I just know it was over a year ago....
Re: ideas about star trek tech
@Stewi- Are you talking about that coat thing that someone made? It can blend into the background. It doesn't really render you invisible, the coat makes the air look slightly distorted.
@Jtull- Not really... just tallking about tech that we have today that could eventually become the Star Trek tech that we may eventually have.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
That made no sense at all... Even when I spell-correct it...
"Oh please just how the Star Trek tech."
Oh please just how the Star Trek tech what, Jtull? That made absolutely no sense at all.

Yeah what you're talking about Stewie is what Alkanosis said. They have loads of different cameras which sort of project an image. The Americans are trying it out in Afghanistan with tanks and it works quite well.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Well, we've had that technology for years, but we still don't have force fields.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
Well, wev'e developed quite strong magnetic fields, but that's about it.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
we have propelled particles to speeds very close to that of light. partially using these magnetic fields.

But on a large and relatively cheap scale is impossible at the moment, and we may well wipe ourselves out before then.

Um...I'm thinking of an idea that they use a star's light to make phasers...

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Prism tank =/= Phaser.
Prism tank- Bends and distorts light, which means that destructive energy travels at the speed of light. Plus, you need a lot of space for all that equipment.
Phaser- Energy travels at sub-light speeds. Powered by an energy cell and fires nadion particles, I believe.

Must our minds always be stuck on weapons and warfare? War is stupid and limits our capabilities to excel.

that could be why humans in star trek made so powerfull ships.
because we need the power and we can get it.

Well, I don't support the human race ascending to a Star Trek level, because of it's morals and worldviews. It's somewhat PETA-like and very humanist.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
PETA is just... ugh... let's just put it this way; if I said that they think that we are the cause of every bad thing here, then I wouldn't be far off from the truth. Plus, they believe animals are more important than us. I don't want to sound narcissistic, but... That's just not right.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Let's see, I still don't really understand FTL because according to my science teacher, it would take an infinite amount of energy to move even at the speed of light with a propulsion system. Plus, the faster you are going, the more strain is on you and if you even approach the speed of light, your body will disintegrate and turn into energy, just like when you go into a black hole.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
yes its impossible to go at the speed of light but nothing says you cant go faster.
any way warp your not actualy moveing that fast. your moveing space.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Here's the thing...
We have Jewish teachers, we have atheists and Jehovah's Witnesses and even Mormons that go to our school. Heck, I think there's a few Satanists/Luciferians as well... It's very open-minded. It also rejects the Pope's statement of non-Catholics=non-Christians.
