Re: ideas about star trek tech
for example how mutch energy it would take to just move the Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) 10,000KM at warp 9.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
nah that wouldent create suffitiont power to create a warp feild.
you would probibly need fusion or matter antimatter reactions.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Yeah, this isn't my field of expertise. I know more on the borg than anything else really, weel, I used to at least
Re: ideas about star trek tech
well i was talking to a mate last night and we think you could create a warp feild by puting a lage current through a wire thereby createing a lage magnetic feild.
but that probibly wont work but is a idea.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Einstein proved that nothing can go faster than light than light itself, but if we had enough power to move the space around a ship, that would work. That would take the energy of about a billion suns though, which we don't have!
Re: ideas about star trek tech
I still wonder about Einstein's theroy. Since we really don't know everything and I don't beleive anything is impossible. But I do remember reading some where about someone or people made a cloaking device... I'll have to see if I can find it.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
Einstins theroy was baced on maths and you can allways get a wrong awser in maths.
so maybe if you can manipulate the maths in a ligitimate way then if must be possible to minipulate space in the same way.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Well, there is a flaw with that. What is the speed of light? Light goes at different speeds depending on the environment.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
the speed of light is the speed in witch eletoromagnetic radiation travels through a vacum.
and scientists have made light go faster than the speed of light.
so logicly it should be possible to make matter go faster than the speed of light.

Re: ideas about star trek tech
though we will never see the day a peice of matter say the size of....a B2 stealth bomber
go that fast
(the human race might never see that at all)

who care its fun to therorise.
and any way the B52 is better. no argument

Re: ideas about star trek tech
but which one is more likly for u to get home in one peice
the us has never lost a single one (probably because their so dang expensive)

Re: ideas about star trek tech
and well how many do they have and when a blackbird crashed it was not officialy recorded. so how would you know
Re: ideas about star trek tech

Re: ideas about star trek tech
that would would be nice
just think.....
"hey jkanig" "yeah jokion" "do you see that shimmer by the rock over there"
"yeah what about it" "doesnt the figure look a little....disturbing."
"yeah now that that you mention it it does look like a cloaked soldier"
"yeah....oh well back to our patrols"
*turn around walk off*
*BANG* *BANG*

Re: ideas about star trek tech
that would be funny.
no more stelth spy planes.
but how would it work?

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Well, an idea for a cloaking device is a spherical screen that showed the image of the opposite side (That image is being captured by a camera in the opposite side of the sphere). The thing that wanted to be cloaked should be put inside the sphere...

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Well, what other ways could exist to make something invisible or to make things go out of phase?
Maybe some kind of radiation would work, but it would be lethal...

Re: ideas about star trek tech
Nope because the radioactive shielding would undo the effects of the radioactivity; the radioactivity would make something invisible, but if that something becomes radioactive-proof, it'll become visible again, right?

Re: ideas about star trek tech
well, this is a stupid metaphor but look, you throw water to a towel. The towel gets wet. If the towel is waterproof, then it won't get wet, understood?
Now imagine this, but think that the water is radiation, the towel is a person, and being wet is being invisible:
You irradiate someone with radiation, the radiation makes that someone invisible (And dead). If the person is radiation-proof, then he won't get invisible (Nor dead)...

Re: ideas about star trek tech
ok i get it but its impractical.
and any way the dilithium cristl matrix is subjected to intence radiation and its visible.
anyway how about photon torpedos?

anyway how about photon torpedos?
Re: ideas about star trek tech
The only impossible thing of that is keeping the photons restrained to a space without being reflected, absorbed or refracted, which means, having the photons stopped in the middle of a container.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
Well, i believe someone stopped light somewhen, i just don't remember who nor when... I'm sure they were some scientists, but i don't know if they were from CERN, or NASA, or MIT or another science facility...
Re: ideas about star trek tech
because to stop light you need a lot of energy, and when the torpedo collides, that energy is released, because the photons' containment is broken.
Of course this is all theoretical
Of course this is all theoretical
Re: ideas about star trek tech
That's true, but antimatter is very unstable. How would you get it inside a missile or a torpedo without generating a matter-antimatter reaction/explosion? I believe it's easier to stop light that to do that.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
Yes, but a strong magnetic field would disable electronic and electric systems, so, unless you fired the missile/torpedo very near, you wouldn't get it to go to the right target, and if you were very near, you would die. With a magnetic field, you wouldn't be able to program the missile's trajectories.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
but if you uce magnetic sheilding then the electronics would not be affected.
Re: ideas about star trek tech
Yes, but then it wouldn't be a missile, it would be a space shuttle! Those systems are big, and all of them together...
