Yeah, if they get a massive army of undead slaves, arm them with miniguns that shoot lightning and put them in tanks that shoot death. Man... that would be awesome... But the thing is, they cant. The rest of the world would stand up and kick their asses. I think they're able to influence politics too though, like the oil companies have been doing.

Yes. Money to buy huge ships that could fall into the hands of extremists. Could/should the international taskforce patrolling the area do the job though?

We could give them a chance, but... their paychecks are a little low, don't you think?

The best move would be each government place a small marine/security contingent in each cargo ship... that way, they would starve to dead by lack of resourses...

We dont have much use for those ships anywhere else, the best thing they can do to pay back their maintenance cost is hunt pirates and keep the shipping lanes secure. Giving their navy money to get more than a bunch of patrol boats would be a huge mistake. Imagine what would happen if the inexperienced crew of a corvette or destroyer was overrun by pirates.

Yeah, they need money. Loads and loads of money. With money, the help organizations can bring in food, medical equipment, medical staff and the like.

By the way, going down there is a noble thing to do... It's a hellhole. Especially if you're a doctor or a nurse.

I would be worried too if my spouse went away to some far of dangerous country.

Last time I heard from him, he said that they had just got in 25 tons of medical supplies, food, blankets, etc. in from the Dominican Republic branch.

He won't talk much about the conditions much, I've noticed. I guess he just doesn't want the family to worry.

I can't blame him, I bet it's hell over there.

Kiyo's school has been getting way into the drives: Bottled Water, Baby Food, pants, shirts, other food.. money.... the works... I only know cuz he's asked me a few times if I want to donate anything

i haven't really been following the news (actually, I never follow the news) so I actually didn't know about the haiti thing for a few days until after it happened. And I doubt it'll be the worst natural disaster of our life, we most likely have many years left to our lives, and with this global warming thing, things will only get worse and worse

I'm getting an ice storm/snowstorm tomorrow, so I might lose power.

If I'm not here tomorrow, you know what happened.

Man, I'm getting tired of this whole winter thing! See, where I live, we usually only get one big storm during the winter, or just a few small storms. But this year we've already had a freaking blizzard just a few weeks ago!

Yeah, me too. And i have no idea what 16 inches is in centimetres, but we get knee deep snow here. Makes going out after fresh snow has fallen a whole new level of fun. Especially if you're wearing jeans. Which i do most of the time.

Oklahoma is super windy all of the time. DW is in the Northeast, so I'm sure he gets bad wind too.

I suppose that if you get used to the cold, it's probably easier to deal with though.

yeah, wind, i hate wind, we had 80km/h wind day before yesterday, but at least it's not like last year, last year we were having winds of 125km/h, but, there's still plenty of winter left here, so i guess it's too early for me to say we haven't had any

Yes we do. Had a full on snowstorm the whole day. Thermometer said it's only 2 degrees minus, but my bum disagrees.

A few years ago, I went outside when it was 12 degrees F, and I thought it was wonderful! Because there was no wind.... If there was wind, I would probably have had frostbite, considering how long I was outside.

God, this global warming stuff... it's odd how they had to use the word.. warming... makes me want to beat Al Gore and whoever else with a stick... it was fine here a few days ago.. you could actually walk out in shorts and a t-shirt... now today, a nearby dam started to flood and we are expected to get bad weather tonight, tomorrow, and the day after.

actually, it is warming. it's called global warming because the overall planet temp is rising, which depending on your region can cause things to be really cold, or really warm

hmmm, then there's that, you're probably like us and have the jetstream overhead, that's usually what causes a zone to have jumpy weather. For instance, yesterday was 10 degress, by tomorrow, it'll be -15 degrees, that's over a 20 degree drop in the course of 48 hours

Actually, they say that Oklahoma is probably one of the worst places for a weatherman.

LOL, today it's getting up into the 60's, and tomorrow it's only getting up to 34.

Then sweden must be one of the best places for a weatherman. The weather makes sense most of the time. It's cold as hell in the winter and warm in the summer. Except when we get a freak season like last winter when we had almost no snow and temperatures very close to the 0.

being a weatherman in NSshould be easy too, just list off every type of weather possible and say we're getting it all sometime in the next week

Hehe, having 4 regular seasons is great. Doesnt get boring like in the warmer countries or annoying like in areas where the weather rarely stays the same.

Wasnt as fun yesterday though... Had to run home in a T-Shirt in 10- celsius. Think i'm getting sick because of that... My throat feels kind of sore...
