Life changing moments.
I know I make alot of topics like this but its mostly because I am genuinely interested. I want to know what things have changed your life. preferably for the better. lets be positive about it.
I had one of those moments not to long ago.
I was on the bus going into the town hall for get smart god told me that I would be over come by the holy spirit and I would then also pray for people and they would be over come. well guess what later that day I was prayed for andf I fell over. I then prayed for two girls who both fell over and came up almost crying with joy. if anything lately has changed my life it was that moment since I felt like I was doing what I was ment to be doing with my life.

I had a life changing moment when I signed on to VX Flash. Sure my account got deleted there because I didnt get on much, but in the years since I have become part of two other very awesome forums and I have my own (as deserted as it is...<_<) and I feel I belong here.

Re: Life changing moments.
My condolences to all of you who have lost a family member. I haven't lost any yet, let alone a family member close to me so I don't know how that feels.
And Jtull, he is accusing 5,000 people of being loonies. Big deal. People just act that way toward religion, and that's why I stopped making myself a target for people to make fun of for being religious. I'm surprised you're acting this way, given your stated predisposition toward logic.
Not trying to put anyone down here, it's just the way life is.
On a more on-topic note, the most life-changing moment of my life was when I started listening to music seriously. Sadly, I won't be able to make a life out of music because my parents don't want me to (as I have complained many times...)

Re: Life changing moments.
and jtull, thingy and i have already had it over the religious debates, it's just best if we don't go there. thingy, no accusations please.
Re: Life changing moments.
Yeah. I think we need a new rule barring religous discussions. They always end up being more trouble then their worth.
@ Alka: Don't let your parents govern your life. They have a large amount of control and influence over you when you are young, but as you get older..well you know what happens, we all just stop listening and start going our own way. If you want a career in music, do it.

Re: Life changing moments.
yeah, even my parents would tell you to do what you want as you'll just not be happy with yourself for your life. you have the opportunity now to push yourself onto a path which bests suits you, don't give up that opportunity just because of your parents, i mean come on, what's the worst they're gonna do to you anyways?

not if you've moved away. i mean what are you afraid of really? go to a school or something that teaches music, or go start a band or whatever works. it's not like they can ground you for it!
Re: Life changing moments.
And they do, go out anyway. You can also practice with some mates obviously. They have far less control then they think.

Not really.
And I already am in a band. The problem? We play technical death metal. I think that'll sell really well in the mainstream market and I can show my parents the boatloads of cash I make from that and they'll obviously give in.

Darkwing wrote:but is it all about the money?
Nah. It's just what I want to do with my life. It's my passion. I could care less about the money, just as long as I make enough to live and buy new equipment, a good computer, TV, etc.
Plus, money is The Root of All Evil.

Dream Theater is pretty much a heavier version of Rush, with a good deal of both heavy and soft music. Though with a focus on drums and guitar rather than the focus on drums and bass in Rush with nearly no attention given to the guitar player.
ED, if you're 40 years old, we don't expect you to like newfangled things.

Then he's a weird old guy that likes newfangled things!
My dad hates all music. And he measures success by how much money one makes, so that's mainly why he wants me to keep drumming as a side hobby at best.

Can your dad adopt me then? So I can escape insanely high standards and I can jam with amazing Canadian musicians? It would be a life-changing experience.

Re: Life changing moments.
honestly, he has black hair that is sort of wavy and somewhat long, that he has kind of gelled back, and the sides above the ears are this silver grey colour and i swear to you he hasn't dyed it, it's just how he's going grey, just in a somewhat superhero awesome fashion

Eh.... Ok, i mean you and all the looneys who think you can actually have direct contact with god, plus the ones who collapsed because some guy was talking about god are in a serious need of counseling. And accusing 5000 people for being looneys isnt so bad anyways, ever heard about the church of scientology?
@ DW I wasnt going to start a religious debate... Just pointing out how insane that was...
And alka, you shouldnt base your entire future around music, but you should keep it as a major part of it if you like it. It's always good to have a plan B if you cant make it in the entertainment business.

Re: Life changing moments.
Well, I was thinking more of going about it this way...
When I get a record deal, I just fill the terms of the contract while trying to squeeze out as much money as possible. After the contract is over, I go and start my own record company and sign other bands and make money that way. Therefore, I can make money by squeezing profits from others and from my own records.
And I fixed it for him, DW.

I'm quite sure owning a records company is a full time job in itself... But i guess some artists have managed to do both.

Re: Life changing moments.
I'll have to agree with thingy though, you do need a backup plan. I mean, think about how small of a percentage of musicians actually make it big enough to be able to live off of just their music business.
You need a backup plan.

Life changing moments...
When my GF died...
When I quit drugs....
When I was baptized...
When I decided to dedicate my life to the ministry....
And you know what another one was?
