Changing the map
Ok - so i'm giving flashgate a go - only i realised something today, i have no idea how to go about changing the map.
It's something i've never done before, and i'm interested in learning how to completely mod the BM map (which will ultimately become the stargate universe).
I'm sure i've seen it before where the map has been completely re-done....didn't one guy change it to reflect how the star trek galaxy is in star trek canon?
Thanks in advance from an eager beaver

Re: Changing the map
editing the map is relitively simple you got to the preloader find the planet data and the last two numbers before the ; are the co-ordinates on the map
Re: Changing the map
BM2 - but i hope it's super easy in that as well

Re: Changing the map
oh bm2 map is possible easier than bm, ive got about 70 planets in bm2 like i said just use the co-ordinates to get them there is a working version of the editor in the source file
Re: Changing the map
it would be nice a game whit hundreds of star systems , maybe vex inserted the editor as a cheat and to be started as a cheat just like the ship editor from flashwars

Re: Changing the map
maybe the systems could be like the ones in flashtrek, where there are multiple planets around 1 star.

actually that idea would be good for flashgate - because it would mean multiple stargates in a system...which would make the who,e stargate concept a lot better...

Re: Changing the map
if it shows up as a ship, how about make it show up as a station? like it offers ships and cargo runs and merchants and stuff, but the sprite is of a planet.

Re: Changing the map
i would know how but i might get rid of a station sprite and change to a planet or something and then put a couple in each planet
Re: Changing the map
My thoughts exactly!
I hadn't actually checked page 2, and i had thought that changing a station sprite to a planet would work....then i posted, and saw someone was a step ahead of me.... So i edited...

Re: Changing the map
ok tied hving dyson sphere/ red giant in every planet didnt work generally because i didnt like it
Re: Changing the map
then use the dyson shere , delphi station , and maintenance station as different planets because none of this are important .
