Episode 4

(Ok, took the liberty to post episode episode 4, i don't have the ability to post in locked topics like terra and DW do!)

Mallor eased back in his chair a bit. When they dropped to sublight speeds, they barely had enough time to realize that the image from the scanner was distorted because of the high speed and to pull up before they ripped off the section 31's ship's warp nacelle.

"Ship status report?"
"No damage, sir, but one crew member hit her head against open door because of the maneuver and needs minor medical attention, and the barman spilled a drink."
"Oh, well. tell him to get one on me, and one for me too, while we're at it. I could use one."

He sighed. Many things were on his mind. He looked at the screen intently, watching the two other ships just floating there. Nothing was happening.
"Ensign, keep an eye on those two. warn me when something's happening. And oh yeah, try to tap any transmissions between the two too."
"Yes sir!"
He decided there was nothing immediately happening outside, and they were cloaked perfectly fine. However, on the inside, he had somebody who required some intention. By now, he figured, Borrego would have noticed he was running out of time. He put the view of him inside the computer room on screen and turned on the audio.

"Ei! Mallor! What the hell do you want by trying to steal this god DARN ship!"

"You know, I can hear you perfectly well, I'm not exactly deaf. And as for your question, I'm not stealing anything. You heard just as well as me that he appointed me as acting captain. In fact, you asked me to get on the bridge yourself. That means I'm charged with the safety of this ship, it's crew and the captain himself. Currently I'm trying to do what's best for those three. Your recent actions pose a threat to this ship, these computers you're looking about are way more powerful than the federation has ever seen. I don't know in who's interest your acting and why. The only thing i can do is disable you from doing whatever you were doing. I do not like it, because you were an otherwise excellent crew member, but I have to. As for where we were going, I was going after Terra, who left during our little quarrel and hitched a ride to go after rivers."

Mallor looked at the screen and waited. An ensign walked towards him and gave him the drink he had ordered. He thanked him and drank some.

"You just don't get it, right?" Said I "Rivers requested me to send a signal to someone... I don't know who, but he asked me... How do you think I got his access codes? And besides! Rivers ordered you to stay still in the sector, not to run away and start acting like a maniac! When he gets here you're going to hear so much, so much, so much, that you would wish to be deaf!"

"I won't be able to shout at me at the current moment. He's at the ship of section 31, remember? I had some experiences with section 31 in the past, and I know their methods. Besides, Rivers didn't tell me anything. in fact, he told us all, and i quote: 'Put Mallor in charge, listen to him, no matter how bizarre. You probably won't be seeing me for a while, it's probably better...' Now i don't know to trust you. For all i know, you could be working for section 31 instead of Rivers, which doesn't seem all too likely. In fact, there MUST be a mole aboard this ship, because this whole mess smells a bit too fishy for my taste. Now if you would cooperate, we would escort you to a high security brig, were I'm sure it'll be much more comfortable and cozy than in a computer room with still depleting oxygen. You'll stay there untill I spoke to Rivers and we know what to do with you."

Kaliandra: They followed us.
Aeris: Doesn't matter. They won't be able to listen in on the conversation.
Kaliandra: You sure?
Aeris: We are using the Shadow's private hailing frequency, he would have to crack the 27 digit code, then have a passcode.
Kaliandra: Ahh, then we are safe. Shall we alert the Sec 31 ship?
Aeris: Not yet. We are awaiting a reply remember?
Kaliandra: What should we do about Mallor?
Aeris: He may have helped us in the past, but that isn't the same Mallor.... I still don't think Rivers wants to kill us..
Kaliandra: He did save you all those years ago...
Aeris: Yes, but after he saw I had a daughter.
Kaliandra: True.... Too true... How is Terra doing?
Aeris: She is better, but we still have her do periodic check-ups.. We still don't know what is wrong with her.
Kaliandra: Don't worry. We will find out what is wrong... and try to fix it.
Aeris: I hope so...

He looked around the bridge. Everybody was away: Borrego in the computer room, thinking about what he said, The only other noteworthy Ensign on the ship he knew died in a transporter accident, Kalliandra and Terra were gone with the shadow, and most other senior officers dead. The rest, petty officers and ordinary crew members, the ones who were just doing their jobs and nothing else, the ones you never really noticed, were gone too because of the changing day shift. He drank some more and thought. why so much pain, so many dead, so much suffering, for such a vague and futile cause? They would never be able to stop this oncoming civil war on their own.

He heard someone sigh behind him and looked around. He saw nothing at first, but then he heard Leia's voice.
"Oh yeah, you can't see me... i'll decloak."

Mallor got up and embraced Leia.
"I tried to stop them, go after them, but i was too late. Luckily i managed to get some of the medications you were giving her in her belongings, just before they were transported to the shadow after Terra and Kalliandra. I'm sorry..."
"There's nothing to be sorry about. You did the best you could. There was no way you would have been able to stop them. But i do wonder why they first commanded us to go be escorted to Vixeria when we already were going there, and then they suddenly turned back to go after Rivers! I only found out after i finished was able to take a break from fighting with Borrego."
"You want me to take care of him?"
"No. When he sees you he will even suspect me more. If he's telling the truth about working for Rivers, that is. And if he betrays us and attacks you, you won't be able to defend yourself. You have never been taught to fight, only to rule."
"Hmm, yes, you're right. That's why we did differently with Terra, to give her better means... Let's just hope she will have a chance to apply these means."
"Yes. We need to hail them."

Mallor turned towards the console and opened a secure channel with the Shadow.

*Rivers stepped into the bridge of the Sec 31 ship, Robert looked at him smugly*

Robert: Ah, just in time. We were about to exit warp around those coordinates you intercepted...oh wait, I wasn't supposed to know about that was I?

*Rivers clenched his teeth. He suspected something like this might happen, and he knew he was being played. Rivers was always being played and pitted against the sides, but he had a duty to fulfill, one he had been working on for hundreds of years*

Robert: I presume you've thought about my proposition?

Me: Yes, yes I have

Robert: And

Me: Honestly, you never thought I would give up that easily did you? You cut my arm off, you tortured me, and now you want me to give up freely?

Robert: Well, I had to try

*Robert signaled to the guards*

Robert: Dispose of him

Me: Hold on, you never asked about my arm

*The guard came up and grabbed Rivers. Rivers threw the guard against a bilkhead, blood started streaming from the guard's head. Robert jumped up and grabbed a phaser, but it was too late. Rivers grabbed Robert's neck and snapped it in two. Robert fell to the floor. Rivers kicked the body aside and sat in the command chair. The crewmembers looked at Rivers curiously*

Me: You either do as I command or...

*Rivers looked down at Robert's limp body. The crew quickly went back to their stations.*

Me: Current location?

Helm: We're almost at the coordinates, your orders sir?

Me: Maintain warp as long as possible. I want us to warp out in front of the Darkwing

Helm: Sir?

Me: Trust me

*The Sec 31 ship exited warp, not quite as sleek as the Darkwing, but efficient enough. The Darkwing wasn't visible, but Rivers knew she was there*

Helm: Looks like we beat them here

*Rivers shook his head at the incompetence of the officer*

Me: And now we have reached a stand-off

Aeris: Ignore it. Hail the Sec 31 ship. It looks like Rivers took it over.
Kaliandra: Opening Hailing Frequencies.
Aeris: Shadow to Sec 31 ship, Who is in command?

*Rivers thought quickly, now was no time to blow things out of proportion. He knew Sec 31 couldn't defend itself in an attack. Now was the time for deception*

Me: Helmsman, hail the shadow, don't mention me, but state that you are the commander. Robert is dead due to an unfortunate accident, and I have been executed

*The helmsman looked oddly at Rivers, as Rivers put a small device on his shoulder, masking his lifesign*

Kaliandra: Aeris, calm down. This is not war. We can not risk attacking a fed ship.
Aeris: I know, but they respond well to threats.

Helsman: This is the section 31 ship Defender. I am acting Captain Starr. Our former captain has passed away due to an unfortunate engineering accident. Please state your intent!

"Something happened."
"Yes. Unfortunately i don't know what is happening."
"Maybe tapping their comunications?"
"Already doing that, but the signal is decoded. Even with computers as powerful as the Darkwing's it will still take at least some ten minutes. And i don't think they'll keep chit-chatting for that long."

There was still no reaction from the Shadow and Mallor tapped his fingers against the arm rest of his chair.
"I HATE being ignored"
"Maybe you should just beam onto the Shadow."
"No. Their shields are online. We could evade that with the shield modulator bypass, but i don't want be be like an enemy boarding party. I will never hurt a vixen."
"Then what do we do?"
"Maybe you should try hailing them."

Leia got a communications device out of her pocket and activated it.

Terra. who had been silent during this time picked up a little device. "Leia?" was all she said.

Aeris: Defender, we wish to find a man named Rivers. He has some explaining to do for countless deaths of my people. If you do not hand him over, we will board. We don't want bloodshed, but if it comes to that, we will slaughter everyone on that ship to get him.
Kaliandra: I'll go check on Terra.. Maybe she is feeling better.

Kaliandra walked away from Aeris thinking that something had changed her. It wasn't Rivers that had saved her. It was Mallor, but she wouldn't have any of it. She believed that Rivers had saved her. Kaliandra and Terra knew otherwise. Kaliandra went around the corner to Terra's room and knocked on the door.

"Ei, Mallor, how things are up there?" Asked I "You know, you can use the shield modulator without being detected... and use the new infantry uniforms to go on undetected! If you say that we're at the same side... BTW, how is that thing of me getting temporarily an high security cell until Rivers return? I think I'm gonna to accept... if you're also on River's side..."

"Ah, it seems our guest has finished thinking. let's see if there's smoke coming out of his ears."
Mallor looked at the screen.
"Well, you don't need to tell me anything about stealth, mister. Besides, what are ya doing listening in on me and an ensign? I thought i turned the sound off again?"
Terra laughed. "No you didn't, my brilliant captain"
"Ah well. i think we have an agreement there. Oh, by the way, I'm a little bit too lazy to escort you down there, so I'm just gonna transport you, if that's okay. The guard is already informed, if you would want to have a chat with him. And oh yeah, i think you got a cell-mate."
Mallor lifted the transporter block on the computer room and activated the internal transporters. Less than a second later he saw Borrego materializing in the high security brig, right beside a surprised Rotakon.
"Have fun, and oh, please, don't try to fight with each other too much."

Mallor turned off the sound this time, and turned to Leia, who was talking to Terra.
"Hey Terra, how are you feeling today? Apart from ill, I mean?"

"Not to good Mallor. Aeris thinks that I can wait for the cure we have for my illness back on Vixeria.. I don't think I can wait for it. We need to get Aeris off this ship, Rivers off that ship, and we need to get back to Vixeria... Oh, Kaliandra wishes to speak to you.
Terra handed the comm PADD to Kaliandra.
"Hey Mallor, this is Kaliandra. I'm sorry for any misunderstandings. Aeris thinks it was Rivers that saved her all those years ago. We know it was you, only in a human form. We need to get Rivers off the Sec 31 ship. Even though his life sign isn't showing up, we know he is alive. Terra put a built-in tracking system into his arm. She knows he is on there. But Aeris doesn'. And we need to get Aeris out of command of Terra's Shadow. If this ship takes a hit, both the Fall of Mammon, and the Rise of Firefox will be here so fast that even the Darkwing Mark II would have a hard time surviving."

"Mallor smiled. Who will be the designated driver? Oh, by the way, Darkwing or Shadow? Anyway... Leia, lets test that shield modulator bypass, won't we?"
"What, me?"
"Yes, I'm currently acting captain, so I can't leave the ship, and the only other I'd currently entrust with the care of this ship is currently in the Shadow, sitting on her bed in her nighties talking to us."
"But... I don't know how to fight!"
"I know. You won't need to. Just stay cloaked and be silent, find Rivers, tag him and I'll activate The transporters. You'll be back before you know it. Besides, You'll have help, I think. Kalliandra? Would you care to join your former queen on this one?"

*Rivers didn't like the radio silence. Silence was never good in his experience. It meant scheming, planning nd usually planning never ended well, especially if you were on the opposing end of the bigger gun. The helmsman looked up at Rivers*

Here is where I depart. I expect you to warp out of the system, and if I ever see the likes of this ship again, I'll have it blown to kingdom come

*Rivers briskly walked from the bridge to the transporter room. The transportre chief looked up*

Chief: Hey, you're not allowed....

*Rivers sent an electrical shock into thew chief, knowcking him out. Rivers went over to the transporter concole and tappec away at it*

This should get me through the shields

*Rivers stepped onto the pad, and the transporter beam enveloped Rivers, taking him off of the Defender.

The transporter beam faded away, and Rivers looked around. He was on some random hallway, he always hated auto-transport, it never took the coordinates quite right. Rivers headed off for the bridge, only to be stopped by a large bulkhead. rivers tapped his command code into the panel, but it bleeped, neglecting his codes*

Odd, somebody's activated Construction override

*Rivers tried another code, the Admiral's old override. Rivers knew it was better to keep the admiral's code a secret for as long as possible. The admiral had left a meassge on this ship that Rivers had found when he first came aboard. The message included some key information, including how to override the override. The bulkhead opened. Rivers took off running. He knew it wouldn't take long before Mallor caught on, and hacked the admiral's code, and Rivers still had three decks to go. On the way, Rivers stumbled across a panel. Rivers quickly flung it open and grabbed what was inside...*

Terra snuck up behind Aeris and knocked her out cold and the belt she was wearing sizzled and revealed an assassin.
"Take that thing to the detention area. Now, open fire on the Defender!! Rivers is obviously not on."
Ensign: Roger. Firing main cannons.
The Shadow's guns lit up and sent three large beams into the Defender's hull, completely cutting through it. The Defender floated aimlessly and exploded as a barrage of missiles destroyed the floating hulk.
"Now, turn this ship around to face the Darkwing."
Ensign: Roger.

*Everybody turned in shock, as the doors to the bridge opened. Mallor looked a little surprised, but quickly surpressed it.*

Helm, warp 9, heading 231 mark 5, engage!

Helm: Wha.. oh, aye sir!

*The Darkwing quick pulled up and warped out of the system*

Helmsman, isn't this ship designed to go faster?

Helm: Um, experimentally, she supposed to be able to do warp 12, but that's impossible

Me: We're about to find out, change heading, previous course, amp it up to warp 12!

The Shadow jumped into slipspace behind the Darkwing, hoping to beat them to their designation

*Rivers looked down from the upper platform at Mallor, who was still sitting in the command chair, intently looking out of the viewscreen. Rivers wondered what he was thinking, if Mallor knew, that Rivers knew about him, having finally remembered.*

ETA?

Helm: Unknown sir, these are odd coordinates, the computer cannot calaculate

*Rivers waited patiently. Vixeria would be in view soon...*

"Helm contact Vixeria, I know where they are going.Tell the fleet to get ready for unexpected visitors and to tell them to have EVERYONE to be on Yellow Alert."
Helm: Yes Terra. Message Sent.
"They'll beat us there, but they won't get through the fleet. They will get destroyed if they do."
Terra wondered what was going through Rivers mind.

Helm: Sir, what is our destination?

Me: A planet helmsman, a very old and special planet.

*Rivers looked down at the tactical console. Suddenly a blip appeared on the screen*

Helm: Sir, planet in range, dropping out of warp

Me: NO! Warp around to the dark side of the planet. Tactical, engage the cloaking device, and enter stealth mode. Mallor, if you'd be so kind as to disengage the construction override, then we shall go to Red Alert.

The Shadow disengages slipspace as it enters Vixerian Space.
"This is ..." Kaliandra nodded. "Queen Terra of Vixeria. Please send patrols to scour the area around the planet. Tell everyone on the ground to get up and do a tactical lockdown of every spaceport on the planet. Get Marine squads down on the planet and send in our Recon into the woods. I'm issuing a Red Alert status."

The squads of fighters and bombers accompanied the cruisers and capital ships as they began their patrols.

*Rivers smiled to himself once Mallor had tapped in the code. The override deactivated, and Rivers took full command*

All hands, Red Alert. Tactical, arm all weapons, everything we've got, including the experimental ones!

Tact: Yes sir!

*The Darkwing exited warp behind the planet Vixeria. She picked up speed as she pulled full impulse*

Tactical, immobolize their planetary defenses!

*The Darkwing soared past the space stations, which opened fire, most of the fire being deflected by the defense blasters on the Darkwing's hull. The Darkwing let loose shearing bolts of energy, destroying the planetary defenses efforstlessly.

Rivers began to pace. Finally he was going to complete his mission. He had failed the first time due to Mallor's intervention, and this time he was keeping a close eye on him. The rebellion may have ended fifty years ago, but Rivers mission existed outside of that. Time meant nothing, and until Rivers completed his mission, life would continue on for him*

Terra was beamed down onto the planet. All the civilians had been sent on transports and under guard. The Darkwing was here, as the recently destroyed space stations had warned her. Her royal guard and the assault squads roamed the city. Rivers was not to be tested against, so the squads were at 10 warriors each. The main fleet kept patrolling and the Shadow held it's place above the citadel. 15 squads of fighters flew above castle.
"Why does he want to destroy us all?!" Terra screamed out as she was given the cure. Kaliandra stood beside Terra, katana's raised with deflectors.

Me: Excellent, any sign of a space fleet?

Tact: No sir, but if their cloak is anywhere as good as ours

Me: Point taken Lt. Helm, hold position in a high orbit, remain cloaked at all times, constantly change our position so that they can't find us.

*Rivers turned to Mallor*

You're my good luck charm Mallor. LT, you're in command, do not attack unless provoked, understand?

Tact: Yessir

*Rivers grabbed Mallor, and brought him to the transporter room*

Terra paced the throne room. Guards stood at tactical positions with snipers on the higher levels.
"Tell the squads not to attack unless provoked." Terra said to the comm officer sitting next to her. He quickly relayed her order.

Mallor barely restrained himself. He had to wait, it wouldn't have to go like the first time. Patience... Patience... He just hoped that Leia, who he thought was still in the transporter room, wouldn't interfere and would stay hidden. The door opened before them, and they walked in.
"Hey! Were are you going?"
Mallor cursed in an undefined language.
"Leia! No! This is not your war!"
"Yes, it is. These are my people, I have to protect them."
"Were. And this is not your war, Leia. This is from before your time."
"Don't go! I'll have to stop you!"
"You know just as well as me that you can't, and why too. Go."
"But..."
"Leia, GO!"
In tears Leia turned the belt on, and her silhouette quickly disappeared.

Mallor sighed.
"Wha... Do you have any more surprises for me, Mallor?"
"Yes, plenty. But not like these... I hope."

They stepped onto the transport pads, and the transporter energiesed. in the last moment before they were completely gone Mallor saw, on the other side than Rivers, a third transport flare. He didn't know to whether feel worried, afraid, glad or proud.

Terra looked up from her chair as Leia appeared in the courtroom and stumbled. Terra rushed over and held Leia as she got her balance.
"Sister... It is good to finally remember.. How are you?" Terra looked at Leia with concern.
"I'm fine.. Mallor is stuck on the Darkwing with Rivers. They are going to try and get in here. Have all the civilians been evacuated?"
Terra looked at Leia "Yes they have. Both our destroyers are returning from taking the civillians to a colony... We need to stop Rivers from slaughtering us."
Leia sighed and looked down "Sister, let's just hope that we can stop him."

-V- Red Leader to Blue Leader, Did you see that? A shimmer on the radar. Engage the Darkwing!! -V-
-V- Blue Leader here, Yeah I saw it. ENGAGE!! -V-

Two wings of Hummingbirds flew out of cloak and engaged the Darkwing, aiming their anti-shield laser fire at the engines. Two assault cruisers opened fire with missiles, and one wing of bombers came at the Darkwing. They all knew their mission: Destroy or Disable the Darkwing. This ship was a mockery of their technology. It must be captured, and if it couldn't be captured, it had to be destroyed.

*Just as the transporter beam shimmered over Rivers, Mallor gave a massive push, and shoved Rivers off the transporter pad. Rivers stumbled off. He jumped up, but it was too late, Mallor had been transported.*

Chief, get that signal back! Get him back aboard or we're all dead!

Chief: Sorry sir, it seems they have some sort of forceshield activated

*Rivers left for the bridge, cursing under his breath. Rivers entered the bridge, just as the Vixen fighters opened fire. A console erupted near the back of the bridge*

Why on earth are we sustaining so much damage?

Tactical: It seems their weapons are penetrating the shields and are able to bypass the defense blasters

*Rivers watched out of the viewscreen, clenching his teeth.*

Helm, random heading, warp 10 engage!

*The Darkwing shot off to warp, leaving the Vixens far behind*

quite likely, yes. hmm... paradoxical dilemmas... ok, i'll post one, just a minor short one.

Mallor felt his feet touch the floor and spun around to check whether his action had proven efficient. Good. No Rivers anywhere near. That meant that he either ended up spread out in space, or with one or more important body parts inside a massive object of some kind.

"Now where am I?"
He looked around, his eyes fixed on Terra, and he nodded.
"Forgive me being so rude in kicking in the doors and coming transporting in so suddenly like this, but i had some urgent matters to fix first, in trying to get rid of the man which was following me."

Terra, Leia, and Kaliandra spun around and stared blankly at Mallor. Kaliandra walked over to Mallor and punched him in the face. "That's for not telling us anything." Kaliandra walked off to her room and shut the door.
Terra and Leia helped Mallor up. "Sorry about that Mallor. Kaliandra is just worried is all. So, what plan do you have? The fleet report the Darkwing has left the system, and we are repairing our space stations."

Mallor smiled. "The gesture hurts more than the action." He scratched his chin, looking at Terra and Leia. "As for plans... I never use these, you know that. At least, you should, Terra, because when you were educated in the military arts the very first thing that they probably taught you was that a battle plan never survives first contact."
He looked around and sighed.
"Ha... It's nice to be home again. I guess i won't be needing those again any time soon... It'll be quite the change of habit after more than twenty years."

He reached down, and suddenly seemingly conjured a black belt out of mid-air. He cast it aside, and he began to change. A few moments later he stopped changing, and stood there like a tired old wolf after a long hunt. One of the queen's maids held her hand before her mouth and put up big eyes, he was nothing like a Vixen male had ever been before the disaster.

Terra looks at Mallor as a tear falls from her eyes. "Mallor, I think there someone you must see. Follor me" Terra walks to a room that had recently been added to the castle and motions for Mallor to follow.

"You can stop calling me Mallor too, use my real name please..." Mallor walked after Terra and lays a hand on her shoulder. "Who is it?"

"Alright Mareuki. Just inside here. You are going to be really suprised once you see who is inside." Terra holds back giggles as Leia and Kaliandra stand behind her and try to do the same.
