Getting back to topic:

My opinion is that Russia's actions against Georgia are not easily accepted, as they are attacking both military and civilians, on an sovereign nation. I think that UN Security Council should punish Russia for it's actions.

If so, Portugal should start attacking Angola (for example), that there is no consequences. There is no open war declaration (by my informations) and so, Russia's actions are comparable with Japanese ones in Pearl Harbour.

MNIM, South-Ossetia is a Georgia's region. Since their seperation from the USSR!
And yes, you are two millennia behind.

you forgot some things... Ossetia was divided by Stalin in his 'divide and rule' policy, with South going to Georgia. since the USSR was a collection of (puppet) sovereign nations ruled by Moscow, South-Ossetia is a region under Georgian rule. basically, Georgia is only slaying an uprising region. it would be the same as when the UK would invade Dublin if North Ireland would decide to join the rest of Ireland.

Don't worry that your peace wasn't archived by strength. It was more archieved by blackmailing (the reason that Hitler did not attacked Switzerland was because he had lots of money stored there).

wrong JPB... Hitler could have easily recovered that. the problem for him was that:

A. Switzerland is practically impregnable. the Swiss only needed to cover only 4 ( ! ) major holes to create a defense line 4 times more stronger than the Maginot line.

B. the strength of Swiss does not lie in strength of the armies or scientific advance, but in fortification. Switzerland is already a natural fort, and add to that the hundreds of (some still secret) subterranean forts which protect the accesways and passes.

C. tanks DO NOT climb mountains. (and still they can't) They still cannot fight in mountainous environments. and tanks were the spearheads of the German army. an German brigade without tanks cannot make progress, and is about as worthless as a car without engine.

D. Switzerland is not worth it. to capture Switzerland Hitler would have to smash several armies against it, and would have gained nothing. as a passageway through the alps it served almost nothing, because the terrain was to wild (and still is) and had none to almost nothing capacity.

E. Switzerland could not be bombed because of the mountains and anti-air defense.

F. If Switzerland was to be conquered, Hitler would have to face a guerrilla more fierce than a nuke. plenty of hiding places and remote locations to operate from.

I. numbers and preparation. the whole of Switzerland was already mobilized at the time of the annexation of Austria. Hitlers tactics relied on the point that before the enemy army had mobilized, they had already conquered the whole country. this is also the why he did so long over the Netherlands. Twisted Evil

H. Hitler relied on Blitzkrieg. a thing which is impossible because of points A, B, C, E and I.
