Re: Windows 7
I've honestly not used it. My windows computer still runs on Vista, but I don't care considering I rarely use it.
Re: Windows 7
It's much better than the XP that is installed on the other, crazily slow computer. However, I also have ubuntu installed on my laptop via wubi (sorry for the technical word), and have decided that I wouldn't buy Windows 7. It is nice, but everything I want can be done on free linux.

Yay! Enjoy paying for software!
Yes, now is the time to restart the Great Mac v. Windows debate.

Re: Windows 7
meh, it won;t be a debate, just a bashing session and should go on the list of things not to debate
Re: Windows 7
I don't think there is a debate mac is better for movies, pictures and day to day stuff, windows is better for business stuff and linux is for poor people

Re: Windows 7
and Mac is good if you want to process something large, say making videos, animations, using Adobe software, doing graphic design. Did I mention doing all those things at the same time?
Re: Windows 7
Then I'm a poor businessman. IT'S THE RECESSION, OK?

That's partly because the laptops with OSX on them are more powerful than most others.

Re: Windows 7
Oh right, I forgot Europe's feelin it kinda bad. Get so used to the stable Canadian economy that the other major countries of the world want to adopt our banking system
Re: Windows 7
The UK is doing OK. It's European Europe that's in real problems.
And Lee, that's not the race card. If he was doing that it would be the Nationality Card.

Where the hell did that come from? I mean, there's OT and then there's this... Get back on topic. If you want to talk about the spill, make a thread.

Yep. Had an old version of the topic. Strange that it didn't tell me there's new posts...
Anyway, i've had vista on both my newer computers, and it works quite well. I've heard windows 7 is alot better though... So i might buy it for my desktop later if i can get my hands on some moneh.
And i'd take a normal mouse over an apple mouse any day.

Re: Windows 7
no no, if you got to use a magic mouse, you'd probably never want to go back to a regular mouse.
Re: Windows 7
I have tried to explain why the Magic Mouse is cool to non mac users and even mac users who haven't used this mouse yet and they never seem to fully understand, so I think I'll make a video demonstrating me using the mouse and then you might understand why it's so cool

Re: Windows 7
Well Thingy, my uncle wanted to know whether to buy Windows 7. I told him no, as there was no vast difference. Sure, I'd choose 7 over Vista any day, but as they say, it is really Windows 6.1. Not £80-£00 worth of difference.

Re: Windows 7
well, windows will never really improve if they can keep selling cheap crap that doesn't work well because there's no point in making a really good product (which would cost more money in R&D) so as long as the masses keep buying windows stuff in droves, there'll be no reason for them to make something really really good. And the reason is because they were quite intelligent in the early days by capitalizing on gaming. After that, their future was set because they didn't need to make anything good because they were making a lot of money on a cheap product. Now if someone came along like Linux or Mac and actually decided to also capitilize on gaming, except with their added benefits of multi-tasking and smoother operating functions, then windows would have to start making good products cause there'd be no reason for people to buy windows anymore
Re: Windows 7
yeah windows automatic updates are downgrades that slow you so you buy windows. windows made a new application called makebugs.exe it installs using bug12.msi
Re: Windows 7
I'm using Ubuntu now, and I can honestly say, apart from the gaming and some corporate products, you can do whatever you want.
Most people use windows because it comes on their computer and just because everyone else uses it.
Therefore, a small change by the manufacturers could cause a paradigm in the OS market. Mac will always try to remain top-end-of-the-market, but if more manufacturers used _free_ Linux, then it could be a vicious circle for Microsoft.

Re: Windows 7
I agree the competition should be between Windows and Ubuntu as opposed to Mac and Windows, simply because Mac isn't intended for the every day bloke who needs to send an e-mail and play solitaire, it's a media work computer essentially

Well... If the objective is playing solitary, send e-mails and do a little of productivity work, as long as you get used to it, Ubuntu is pretty good... But, if the objective is playing massive games while doing the other things, you should stick with Windows... I have both, because, when I just need to go quick the the internet I boot into ubuntu... when I want to play a game, I boot into Windows...
