6th form or college?

well im going into my last year of compulsory school and shortly ill have to make a decison wether to stay on in 6 form and work then college or go straight to college what do you think.

other then college, i have no idea what you're talking about

definately 6th form i just started this year and i think its great your still in the scholl enviroment but you have a lot more freedom

is that like co-op ed or something?

darkwing in the uk we only stay in school until sixteen (well 18 now but anyway) and then choose to continue on to A levels or work then after two years u can go to university [what you call college] our colleges are just A level / retaking gcse centers

that's weird. we go to school till we're 18, and then go to uni, college, trade school or just work

my school has 6th form its like secondary school but you pick your lessons and there are more options to choose from you normally do a-levels or something there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixth_form

our stay in till 18 affects my sisters year first shes 2/3 years younger than me

every student who started secondary school last year has to stay till there 18 the rest of us still finish when were 16

no im pretty sure last years lot are 17 this years are 18 i remember thinking it was stupid because now there will be a load of chavs in the sixth form

i know but it doesnt affect me personally i would make it illegal to be a chav

hey i had to put up with chavs all the way through english last year i spent half the time laughing at how stupid they wereone time we were told what to copy something and then 5 minutes later one put there hand up saying they didnt understand

sorry but i have to say lol

tbh i shouldnt really have chavs i live in a well off area but they allways seem to get in. any way i should go to bed or im gonna be useless at school tomorrow

Firstly, this is completely confusing. No wonder DW was flummoxed.
The system works the same here as with you North Americans. Just that you can leave school before sixth form to go either to a more practical-based school (if there is one near) or try to get a job.

Lee, I can't tell you what to do because I don't know your academic situation, but if you don't do well in exams and don't want to try A levels, then I would suggest perhaps trying to find a secure job with promotion prospects rather than go to the vocational college. Or perhaps going to the college but looking for jobs at the same time.

I cant give advice either, for the same reasons as Shem (except I obviously know about sixth from and actually managed to understand it). Until I know how well you did on GCSEs and where you want to go in life, its hard to give advice.

i dunno really, extra education seems good before college.
In australia we do 12 years of schooling and then you take QCS and OP exams and depending on those you go to uni or find something else like a trade job
