I've used both and I find Firefox much better than IE.

I've been using Firefox for a year now. From my own experience, Firefox does take more memory than IE, but it's safer and it never crashed.

IE can be a virus carrier. Firefox is not. Firefox doesn't secretly save all your browsing data including your passwords in a file called index.dat file which you can't delete. Firefox's 'Clear Private Data' option is straight forward.

An important advantage with IE is that it displays ASP pages (pages that end with the file name extension .asp or .aspx) properly. Other browsers don't. But that's Microsoft's intention. You may want to use IE in certain situations, for which you use the Firefox extension "IETab" which shows web pages in IE, but in a tab inside Firefox.

Opera is a great browser, too, but I don't know why it can't handle Gmail!

i normally use ie7 as its alot eaiser fro me than trying to find the link for ff on ma start menu but ff is better

Firefox all the way! IE always had the problem of just closing randomly.
Also IE7 got the tab funtion from FF which probably got the tab function from Opera.

Firefox, in my opinion... But for some things like java (which doesn't seem to work on my computer no matter how much I try), I have to use the Linux port of Internet Explorer 4

weird... never happened with me. sure you used the linux version of java?

windows 2000 thats like 8 years old vista is much better but you might need an memory upgrade as i did when i installed vista

meh. I like my windows 2000 as it already is, it doesn't assassinate my harddisks, and it doesn't mess up my already messed up RAM either.

i voted for internet explorer 7 because the other two internet explorers are rubbish and i havnt heard of the other two.

you know... IE7 is rubbish. even more than the previous versions. WAY less options, and WAY less functionality. not to mention that, when I click the "stop loading page" button, it doesn't stop loading the freaking page!
