Re: Favourite Music
Good song, man.
Honestly, all the old ADTR fans hate this album for some reason. I don't understand why. It's a different style, to be sure, but it's still pretty damn good imo.

Ah yes, bob Marley! My sister said that in Jamaica there are posters of him everywhere. And ot to mention churches dedicated to the smoking of weed...
Better than ezra? Wow, I haven't listened to them in a while. Have you heard this song:http://ilike.myspacecdn.com/play#Better+Than+Ezra:Nightclubbing:133282357:s47739832.12092473.5320291.0.2.149%2Cstd_1d59acfbd0274f5ebf8cc02a56747250 ? Re: Favourite Music
The lead singer and the lyrics don't seem to fit very well with the music, but fair play to them for trying to bridge the teeny pop/punk rock divide.

Yeah their lyrics really suck, but I like the band. They have gang vocals! Nothing that has gang vocals can be bad.

This is from a band called Boy Kill Boy. For some reason most of their stuff seems to be unavailable on youtube, despite having now "taken a break" for three years.
Anyway, copy and paste link. Linking isn't working either. Darn Dropbox!

Re: Favourite Music
<--Was made by Alex Lifeson of Rush for the TV show Andromeda back in the day (the day being the year 2000, though this version was remade in 2008)
Re: Favourite Music
Alex Lifeson is one of the most underrated guitar players ever. I don't even like Rush that much, but I gotta recognize talent, y'know?

This is the original:
EDIT: Upon further research, the other version I posted isn't done by Lifeson, but is sort of a remake by somebody else, but this one in this post is Lifeson's original

Re: Favourite Music
It's actually just Geddy Lee and Neil Peart. Everyone forgets about Alex Lifeson, haha.
This track just pisses me off. I doubt he even knows what a mosh pit is. If I ever saw him, I'd make sure to knock him down.

You know what? I think it's about time to introduce you to spotify. Thousands of songs, all for free (well, you have to listen to a commercial every once in a while, but other than that, it's like a radio that lets you choose anything you want). There's everything for everyone.

Re: Favourite Music
Ah, Spotify. The music streaming service not available in the U.S. Finally, they get a taste of their own medicine!
I would personally suggest grooveshark and 8tracks. Grooveshark has a vast number of songs and an ability to sequence related songs, and 8tracks has playlists made by other people that can be totally rad!

Meh, there's plenty of Youtube videos that are flagged for my country.
Oh, and Grooveshark, YES! I've been using it for about 2 weeks now. I just listened to the Daft Punk Alive 2007 album in it's entirety. Such a nice service! No commercials, no lag, and the music selection is better than par.

Nationalistic? I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about... Now excuse me, i have to get that Egyptian flag i soaked in the tears of virgins and mount it on the massive flagpole i built on the top of my house, then go put Biladi Biladi Biladi on the massive stereo system i built on the Riksdag's facade.

Re: Favourite Music
Actually, what i posted wasn't nationalistic at all. This, is nationalistic.
I have to admit though, she's kind of right about one thing. Most Egyptians living abroad tend to miss Egypt, even when living somewhere as clean and prosperous as Europe. Egypt might have some shitty places and a large portion of the people might be poor, but i still love the place.

Re: Favourite Music
To be fair, that wasn't as crazily overtuned as the Arab female music I have heard.
Do you expect you'll go back to Egypt when you've retired, or will you stay in Sweden? It's conjecture I know, because it's impossible to see 40 years into the future.

Re: Favourite Music
Well, if Egypt is still relatively like it is now or better(as in, it hasn't turned into a shithole), I'm probably going back when i retire. But like you said, you can't really see that far into the future. My opinion of Egypt or wherever i live (I'm probably leaving Sweden for greener pastures after graduating and maybe getting some work experience under my belt. Specifically Canada or the UK) might change. Or it could become a smoggy, overpopulated starving shithole. You never know.
And yeah, Sherin is a pretty good singer by Middle Eastern standards. I'd go as far as say she's a good singer by international standards too. Her songs have meaningful lyrics (most of the time), the music is a pretty good fusion of western and traditional Egyptian instruments and effects and she has a good voice. That's more than you can say about a sizable portion of the world's artists.

Huh... I just noticed she goes to Tahrir square in the video, and says ''Have you tried walking in her streets, complaining to her?''. Kind of funny in retrospect. The people did just that, but not as quietly as she might have meant.
