Let's start with a list of facepalm worthy celebrity causes http://www.cracked.com/article_18628_the-6-most-misguided-causes-ever-made-famous-by-celebrities_p2.html
Remember kids, if your parents follow celebrities like sheep without sitting down and thinking about the subject, they're fucking idiots and you should slap them till they wisen up!
And about number one on that list, i'd normally be glad stupid people are getting themselves killed for their stupidity, but in this case it's the poor bastards that have said morons as parents. Let's hope Jenny Mccarthy gets some horrible disease that could have been easily prevented if she had taken the shots.

Having said that... Strippers Protest Church That Protests Strippers
Massive amounts of win here. I'm just waiting to see which side will cave in first. The church is being retarded, but at the same time those broads are fugly yo...
On a more serious level, it sickens me that the Church would dictate the way people live their lives. Church members, sure, whatever, but just normal people that struggle to put food on the table and to pay the electric bill? The church needs to fuck off here. This quote is what separates the "smart" Christians from the fundamentalist tools.

Right. Lemmings, creatures with a strong herd instinct and little ability to think for themselves, whatever.

Re: Favourite Articles
Yeah, they are known to run off of the edges of cliffs. (I use that illustration a lot.)
I'm so happy JWs aren't fundamentalists. After all, if the bible was taken literally all of the time, things would be really messed up.
Judges 3:16-23 was the first thing I thought of when they started talking about the gruesome stuff.
What they didn't mention in that article, was that the guy that Ehud killed was probably about to, or was in the process of taking a dump when he was slaughtered. (how glorious. I want to go out that way. JK)
As for David, he indeed deserved the top spot. Probably one of my favorite bible characters. The most obvious part of him was his overall elite gangsta warriorness, and poetic talent. But he sure did go through alot of crap. He had Saul on his tail for years, and he even had many chances to kill the turd, but he didn't because Saul was 'God's anointed one'. Then, that turd and David's buddy, Johnathan were out fighting the philistines, and they got surrounded by archers, and decided to fall upon their swords. Good news, Saul is gone, bad news, david's best bud is dead. And the war is still goin on, and David is all screwed up... and it's just terrible.
Later on David got himself into some trouble too, but that's another story....
Anywho, yeah, great article!

It's an extremely true good comparison btw. All the sheep will follow one sheep, all the frigging time.
And it's impossible to say too much about sheep.

Re: Favourite Articles
no, I think he's basically insulting you saying you didn't say anything of any value (most likely because it's religious, though not entirely certain of it)
Re: Favourite Articles
Why? I'm not even talking about doctrine. I was talking about the 2nd article thingy posted. And that's what it was about, The Bible.
Alka, what the heck?
Just because I don't share your views that doesn't mean you have to be rude.

Re: Favourite Articles
it's alka, he's naturally rude and won't give a shit, you get used to it after a while actually.
Re: Favourite Articles
Well, he wasn't quite like that from what I remember a few years ago. He was at least respectful to me.
That long absence probably didn't help him much I'm guessing.

Re: Favourite Articles
he has changed quite a bit. i kinda forgot you haven't been around for that, just don't really expect him to be much like he was before
Re: Favourite Articles
re-evaluated life, determined that he didn't like who he was, I dunno, something like that.
Re: Favourite Articles
So he adopted a character to avoid who he really is /and/or to be accepted by his peers.
I did the same thing myself. It doesn't work to well in the long run though. I'm still trying to drill some of those things out of myself.
This place sometimes brings them out. To be honest, thats why I sometimes have long absences. Well, at least that's apart of it. It's usually a combo of work and depression.

Re: Favourite Articles
well, actually now he doesn't care about acceptance by his peers and stuff, whereas he did before or something like that.
Re: Favourite Articles
Then it's just a personal issue.
We could guess all day, but even then it wouldn't do any good.
I guess I'm probably insulting him by talking about his personal life in the open. I should stop.

Re: Favourite Articles
i'm not guessing, see he's told me, I just kinda don't remember it in detail. Don't worry, you'll actually kinda come to like him like this
Re: Favourite Articles
Nah bro. I just stopped pretending. I'm naturally abrasive and shit and I always had to restrain myself. Then I just decided to just be myself. That's how it goes. If you like it, wonderful! If you don't, then that's a shame but I won't try to ingratiate myself to anyone. It's just how I roll, yo!

Re: Favourite Articles
well, kindness and courtesy are nearly non-existent these days so I guess in the end, it doesn't really matter who you want to be. At least you know and understand who you are and won't let people hold you back from being yourself.
Now I wonder if that statement applies to serial killers and rapists

Re: Favourite Articles
LOL, it doesn't.
The question we have to ask ourselves is will we have morals or not? And if you decide to have morals, what principles do we use to guide them? Those obtained from ourselves, or from some outside source?
The answer is left to each individual.

Re: Favourite Articles
Technically not an article, but at least i think it's like an article but with sound instead of text. One hell of a good article, too.

Re: Favourite Articles
That's true, but it didn't make the choice any easier... You see, you didn't just have to think about how whether it would be morally wrong to brainwash the Geth, you had to think about the
Light spoilers for ME2, kind of significant ones for ME1.
Light spoilers for ME2, kind of significant ones for ME1.
- Spoiler:
Coming reaper invasion. A bigger Geth might help keep it at bay, and if the organic/synthetic alliance fails to keep them at bay, everyone is quite boned. As in, extinct and harvested for resources/technology boned. So it's basically letting them die with their free will intact, but lose an asset that could be important in the installment, or brainwash them and increase the galaxy's chances of repelling the invasion. Absolutely loved it though, it's one of those moments that make you actually sit down and think. It's all too rare these days, seeing as studios prefer sitting in their own little safe zones making slightly brain damaged FPS games.

And that's in addition to all the big and small arguments for both sides you might come up with.
