Re: Media news
WOW looks great trailor!
Then again, why is every single game made from EA these days???

Re: Media news
No idea. But Crytek made this one, they partnered with the EA so they could sell it on PS3 and 360.
If the game is going to be like the trailor, its going to be completely different to the orgional 2 games.

Re: Media news
Yea, like a complete revolution.
Like the COD games. Just backwards.
First 2 were awesome. Third is sucking. Especially on wii.

Re: Media news
Like the Halo games. Except technically they started sucking and have yet to change that.
Well the annoying thing about Crysis 2 is that thanks to 360 and PS3s crappy specs, the graphics are having to be reduced and the engine itself made less complex. At least that way we wont need a supercomputer to play it I guess.

Re: Media news
Wow.
Epic Fail.
You know wii has good graphics but the idea of 3-D control makes it hard to control.
Since your movements are responded by a "Sensor Bar", and the Sensor bar is often......well....unresponsive.

Re: Media news
Yeah I've used a Wii before. Piece of crap.
Anyways, even though they reduced the engine, heres what it willl be like in Crysis 2.

Re: Media news
All news stories from now on will be marked in BOLD to distinguish them from discussions regarding the news items.
The Infinity Ward Founders vs Activision battle is escalating. IW founders Jason West and Vince Zanbella were kicked out of Infinity Ward by Activision security forces, who also confiscated all materials in the founder and co founders offices (Written down ideas about games, game mechanics, DLC etc and detailed information about MW2 and 1) a few months ago under the accusation of being ''Insubordinate'' and suspicions of wanting to leave infinity ward and take IW members with them to create a new studio with the publishing company EA. Adding to the suspicions was an unannounced trip to Redwood, California, the site of the EA headquarters, a few months before they were fired.
This was followed by a publicity battle between the founders and activision. More recently, Activision sued the founders for being ''Self serving schemers'' and stating that "West and Zampella's misdeeds formed an unlawful pattern and practice of conduct that was designed to steal the [Infinity Ward] studio, which is one of Activision's most valuable assets - at the expense of Activision and its shareholders and for their own personal financial gain."
The most recent development however seems to confirm activisions claims. Jason and Vince founded a new studio called ''Respawn Entertainment'' today with seed capital from EA. However, in a surprising twist, Jason and Vince will keep ownership of the IP they create.

Re: Media news
Sony is offering free 3D games for the PS3 to everyone who buys their first 3D capable TV model, the Bravia HX800. Purchasers will be given free, full acces to several episodes of Pain (to go along with that enormous physical pain the weight of your wallet is causing), Super Stardust 3D (to go along with all that cocaine spiked gold powder you sniff at least once every 30 minutes), Wipeout HD and Motorstorm: Pacific rift (although you probably can afford buying the entire pacific ocean with everything motorized in it, including the USN's pacific fleet).
When asked how much the TV sets would cost, Sony replied ''Affordable''. Which is believed to be sony's way of saying a shit ton of money. The new TV sets will be released in June along with a firmware update for the PS3.
Unfortunately for you americans (SUUUUUUUUUCK IIIIIIIT!), the offer is by some miracle only available in Europe.

Re: Media news
Apple has once again proven how utterly useless their security measures are. The very recently launched iPad has been jailbreaked by a hacker going by the name ''MuscleNerd'', who is also the jailbreaker of the iPhone.
“Jailbreaking” is a technical term which refers literally to limits on software placed on an operating system and more figuratively to the feelings developers have about such restrictions. An Apple device that’s been “jailbroken” can run any code, not just company-approved software available through its online stores. But such jailbreaking is a violation of Apple’s terms of service, which may mean Apple Stores will refuse to fix broken devices.

Re: Media news
A 14 year old resident of the Russian town of Tuapse killed his father for taking his computer keyboard today.
The child's father took away his keyboard after he had been playing videogames for an entire week. The kid then took a sledgehammer and crept into his parents bedroom, he then beat his father on the head several times with the sledgehammer, killing him. His mother, probably terrified, gave him his keyboard back and he played until he fell asleep.
She then contacted the local authorities who came and took the boy. He is now in a holding cell pending trial. According to russian law, the boy is old enough to be tried for murder. However, he is clearly very mentally unstable, and will probably be sent in for treatment instead.

Oh for frak's sake... Just... God damn it... You know what, hollywood? Frak you. Just, frak you. Ok? You suck.
The drooling idiots at Universal (you might have given me BSG, but it won't help you this time) have entered a six year partnership with Hasbro. They will be making movies set in the worlds (or very closely related to) Hasbro's IP's, such as... Erh... Give me a second. *Drinks an entire bottle of vodka in one go*. Ok, i'm ready... Sigh.... Mo... Monopoly... Battleship and... and... erh... Clue.
No date on when this sick, twisted rape of the very concept of art will happen has been set.

If this happened in china, some people at Universal would get a bullet in the back of the head. I mean, there is no way anything good can come out of this.

Re: Media news
Popular film critic Robert Ebert has stated that games never will be art.
Robert Ebert's opinion on video games is well known among the gaming subculture. He recently rejustified that opinion with a post on his blog in which he stated that it is not going to happen within any of our lifetimes.
His strict definition on what a video game is seems to be the most significant reason. One obvious difference between art and games is that you can win a game," he writes. "It has rules, points, objectives, and an outcome. Santiago might cite an immersive game without points or rules, but I would say then it ceases to be a game and becomes a representation of a story, a novel, a play, dance, a film. Those are things you cannot win; you can only experience them."
He also asks: "Why are gamers so intensely concerned, anyway, that games be defined as art? Bobby Fischer, Michael Jordan and Dick Butkus never said they thought their games were an art form. Nor did Shi Hua Chen, winner of the $500,000 World Series of Mah Jong in 2009. Why aren't gamers content to play their games and simply enjoy themselves? They have my blessing, not that they care."

In my opinion, this is one incredibly close minded and ignorant old man.
He seems to have confused video games with board games and sports, the difference being that video games can, like his treasured films, have emotionally moving plots, well developed characters and worlds. In fact, games are kind of like interactive films.

Re: Media news
The several decades long life of the venerable floppy diskette will be ending very, very soon. Sony recently announced that they will stop producing and selling the final and only remaining version of the floppy disc, the 3.5 inch-floppy.
Before the CD and other more effective storage methods were introduced to the computer market, the floppy disc was a groundbreaking innovation that revolutionized gaming and the computer industry, but by today's standard, it can't even hold a single average quality image.
Sony has already stopped selling the floppy to most of the global market, only remaining in Japan where it has a 70% hold on the market. When Sony stops selling floppies in march 2011, the life of the floppy will be largely over. It will of course continue unoficially, mostly outside of the western world, but the majority of the floppy market will be gone.

Re: Media news
So, to clarify what's going on in those GIF's. Microsoft has introduced Kinect, the evolution of project NATAL. And it was a pretty spectacular too, cirque de soley came in with an animatronic elephant with built in projectors. No, seriously, that's what happened, i'm not making this shit up.
www.cracked.com/phpimages/article/1/2/9/25129.jpg?v=1" alt="" />
Kinect is kind of like an upgraded version of the wii, it's completely motion controlled. But unlike the wii, this one doesn't use any peripherals, it can read where your hands are and what you're doing with them (If you're as fucked up as i am, no, not that way).
But other than the elephant (i haven't seen the videos yet since i think they're restricted till E3 is over, but i think it's really, fucked, up), it was mostly just shit, apparantly. They introduced some recorded videos that were faked, and bla bla bla, here's the article: http://uk.games.ign.com/articles/109/1096907p1.html
They also introduced some shitty, generic not wii at all games.
www.cracked.com/phpimages/article/1/3/2/25132.jpg?v=1" alt="" />
By the way, Kinect will cost 150$ at launch. Enjoy your shitty pet fondling simulator, suckahs, i'll be with my PS3, playing REAL GAMES.

Microsoft also announced the Xbox 360 slim, which launches next year!
Nah, just fucking with you, it shipped the day it was announced and will be available in stores by the end of the week at 299$. The difference from the normal Xbox 360 is that it ships with built in WiFi, new ''Whisper quiet'' hardware and, if we're lucky and Microsoft have decided to stop being dickbags (not gonna happen), no Red Ring Of Death.
BUT, if you were one of the lucky bastards that were in the audience, you alredy have one, and your E3 ticket instantly became totally worth it.
