Tips for Getting To Sleep? Empty Tips for Getting To Sleep?

Post by Darkjedi 2010-02-25, 05:21

As most of you know, I have sleep insomnia bouts every now and then.

I haven't gotten more than 4 hours of sleep a night in the past week, and I'm really having trouble functioning during the day.

Right now it's 2:15 AM, and I'm exhausted. I lied in bed for a long time, and still not even a wink.

I tried playing "Videotape" by Radiohead on my keyboard, that usually makes me tired. LOL, but that didn't work either.

Ideas, people?

What effect does alcohol have on you?

NOTE: I'm not suggesting that as a long-term strategy. That leads to alcoholism...

I'll try reading. I know I've fell asleep while reading my bible in the past. (I know, I'm often accused of being a religious nerd. I'm not in denial.)

I got a good 5 hours last night! Making progress, one hour at a time. LOL

I also try to learn as much as I can about the bible. That means in depth bible study, ministry school, and soon, I'll get to attend the pioneer school. (I can hardly wait)

You have to be a pioneer for at least a year to be able to attend the pioneer school, and I've already got almost 6 months behind my belt.

Pioneer school = 2 weeks of brain overload on pure information and training.

I've heard that it is literally impossible to study all of the information in the school, so you have to skim, and then review for a couple of months after the course is over.

Post by Leach54 2010-03-02, 01:02

It was tiring. We had to take care of ourselves and our work. we had to cook, clean, all the stuff you do in a normal day + extra work. There were 125 people there total. Split into two half groups (We will call them group A and group B) then those groups were split up into 4 man groups. Finally o n the last night, each group went on a 1-2 mile hike and stay in even more middle of nowhere. More latter... (homework)

It was a lot of fun and i think i slept for a full 12 hours after it. I now plan on doing the national leadership training in new mexico. I expect that to kick my ass. (and i want 18 hours of sleep after it too!)

LOL

Well, I tried reading, reading poetry to be exact.

Helps a good bit! I've also noticed that when I'm reading a book, if I'm looking down on it, it makes me more tired than if I were looking up at it.

I try not to rely on medicine, but benadryl seems to help a lot. (It also helps with my allergies)

could try working out in the morning. Part of getting s good night's sleep is to have a good day awake and not to feel groggy or anything through the day. If you're wide awake through the day, there's more chances of sleeping at night

I used to do that more often, but now it's down to more like 2-3 times a week. Usually a nice jog/run.

Ha ha.
I have one last disc to go. If I had a list of favourite show, I would go like this:
1. Star Trek Series
2. Stargate Series
3. The Universe Series.

There, third on the list.
Yesterday, I excused myself of homework because my leg was hurting badly, and went to bed at 8p.m.. I got a full dream, not like when I sleep for 5 hours where dreams are cut short. I woke up at 3.30 and could not go to sleep so I finished my homework.

And I rubbed some ointment before going to bed.

Reason: I fell asleep for 30 minutes in the evening and my father woke me up. That always gives me the cramp, and a slight dizziness.

Oh yeah, I fell asleep on my hand and was in such a deep sleep I did not feel the pain until I woke up. My hand was numb at first when I woke up, but 30 seconds later my left hand was hurting like hell!

Here's my recount on me having a full nights sleep. Wink

LOL, yeah, the dreams can get a bit weird. Sometimes I have very elaborate and bizarre ones. They can seem so real I'm often surprised I was dreaming.

Every once in a blue moon, I will have a dream in which I have complete control. (There's a technical term for those, but I can't remember what it was)
I know I'm in a dream, and I can do whatever the heck I want.

Those kinds of dreams are amazing! Too bad I can't induce them. Meh.

I also have recurring dreams. Mostly of terror, and pain. Usually reminisces of the past, or fear of the future.

Thankfully though, I don't get those as often as I used to.

Yep, I dreamt of Star Trek, but I was taking a 2 hour nap. I remember the Enterprise-D, a construction ship from Star Trek Armada. And a space-steamboat. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????

Don't ask me, I saw a steamboat in a docking station. Then I saw some guy asking for the Enterprise-A's dimensions. I showed him the X and Y coordinates inscribed on a model. Weird huh?
