Re: General Discussion
yeah, it's our need to put something on a pedestal and worship it. I think that could be mainly why we have religion
Re: General Discussion
Every human being has a spiritual need. - that's one of the main things that stumps evolutionists.
Re: General Discussion
Not really... It can and has been explained by scientists a few times alredy.

Re: General Discussion
evolution? no, it has been disproved by non-religious scientists as well. Evolution is speculation based on hope, I don't mean this in the wrong way, but it has no more scientific validity than the Bible, in fact, there's more scientific fact on the Bible than there is on evolution. There was a discovery a couple months ago of humans pre-dating when evolution says we could possibly exist on this planet (I do believe that was the discovery, I shall have to find it again to be sure)
Re: General Discussion
Yes... A guy in the sky making us out of clay and dropping us into the world he created in 7 days despite being all knowing and all powerful makes alot more sense than life slowly developing from living cells created by chemical reactions to the advanced creatures of today.
In my opinion, most religious books make no sense... God gives us free will, but if we use it in a way that he doesnt like (like, i dont know, doing stuff we're actually biologicly programmed to do?), we get sent off to an eternity of torture.

Re: General Discussion
Science and Religion are sort of going hand in hand there... evolution could be true as well as a God creating us in his own image... No one knows exactly what this God looks like, so it goes to show that he may or may not had a solid form, and could have created us as the smallest of organism and we slowly developed into what we are now... you never know... this is why I try to stay out of things of this nature, because it's hard to trully prove anything... I mean, the bible was written by man.. plus christianty wasn't the first religion...
Re: General Discussion
God doesn't give us free-will, but now we're getting into a religious debate again. And the time necessary for life to develop on this planet to the level of sophistication it's at now is infintely large, it's impossible for us to be at this stage of development after only 4 billion years. Also the fact that all life is this sophisticated (we're talking every single organism on the face of the planet, heck the universe) is too much for random chance. Common sense dictates evolution as impossible.

your statemet is wrong, it should be "first recorded religion" doesn't mean it wasn't the first, just means it wasn't recorded first. Christianity however was the first religion I do believe to have a single God as opposed to multiple Gods
Re: General Discussion
I.. B... Wa.. Wait a second, you're saying common sense dictates evolution impossible, but that we're all actually made of clay by an all powerful being possible? That.. I... I think darwin just rolled in his grave... And imploded.

Re: General Discussion
thingy, did anyone ever once state we were made of clay here, no. And it is odd that we return to dirt and dust when we die, but i guess that's just random chance that worked in nature's favour. At the time Genesis was written, man had no concept of genetics, so to explain to them that man was made by amino acids and whatnot would have just made them hit their head on a rock. You can't take the Bible, especially the Old Testament word for word literally
Re: General Discussion
Yes, man had no concept of science at all when the bible was written. That's why man tried to explain how everything was created and how everything works with what man knows at the time.
And i still cant understand how you can think evolution is completely impossible. I mean, hand in hand with the bible, sure, but completely impossible? They're finding our ancestors every day, and they're finding more proof that evolution happened every day. But do they have any proof that we were dropped off here by god after he made the world in 7 days? No.

Re: General Discussion
How can you say my statement is wrong when I say christianity wasn't the first religion? Even if it wasn't the first recorded religion, it wasn't one of the firsts... and in my opinion, the bible seems to contradict itself in a few things that it said.. and I find it strange that some people would try and live their life according to the bible. In this day and age, it's hard to stick to some of the noble values that it does teach with so much temptation, corruption, and outright hatred that seems to flow like water on this Earth.. even a friend of mine has said it's hard to find true christians... Another thing that strikes me as odd as the many different branches of christianity.. Why have so many when technically your all looking up to the same God? He has many names, and is present in every religion, though seen through different eyes: Odin, Zeus, Allah, etc...
Actually the turning to dust and dirt thing could easily be explained, though this is how I see it in my eyes: Decomposition.. the body naturally starts to deterioate [hope I spelled that right... IE has no spell check].. Though some bodies are preserved so well that even if the skin falls away, the bone structure is preserved.. and there are ways to do it too.. it's just the elements at work... if we didn't have that, this world would be full of dead bodies under our feet..

Re: General Discussion
I even saw a few months ago that someone had found a perfectly preserved skull of a child that had monkey like features... may have been a deformity but other than that it proved atleast some of evolutions principles.. and explain that useless little organ that causes pain to us in our bodies if it explodes...The appendix...

No, evolution on its own is impossible. A guiding hand is needed, at least in the beginning. And Kiyo, I meant your statement in comparison with itself is wrong. You flat out said it wasn't the first, but you don't know that therefore making it wrong. My statement is also wrong, just slightly more open that it could be the first, it just wasn't recorded first
Re: General Discussion
oh, and no more religious debate, we agreed on that before, one more post on the matter and i lock this topic

Jews.... Judaism ocurred before the Christianism, so...
Re: General Discussion
Alright, I shall say no more on this topic... It usually leads to full blown arguments between people and it's hard to argue opinions..
Re: General Discussion
He was just pointing out that you were wrong about christianity being the first... He didnt really partipicate in the debate. Not going to unlock it without your permission though, since you're an admin.
