Here, you will need to demonstrate to the academy that you are both a capable warrior, and intelligent soldier! Not every scenario will require brute force, it may include diplomacy, peaceful negotiation and empathy. These are qualities we expect of every soldier in the republic!

Sykes looks at his recruits. Some are scruffy, some are neat, others aren't paying attention.
He sighs, and then walks to the pilot training course.A small shuttle is lying in the dock, the sign above it says: "Basic flying"
Not today, he thinks and walks over to the one labeled "Heavy combat, advanced piloting and command"
He clambers aboard the vessel, and sits down on the captains chair.Looking around he sees the recruits climbing aboard behind him.
"Welcome to the republic guys.I understand none of you have ever been in a warship before..?Oh well, looks like today you can either learn to fly or learn to die.Enjoy the combat."

I've just thought of something: what exactly does republic training DO?
Jedi and Sith is for force mastery , so what does the republic get?

Army training I suppose.

D'afi Dook smiled. This was more like the action he had been hoping for!

Sykes noticed a single smile amongst the other looks of horror.
"You, there, with the smile!Take the helm, this ship is yours to control. When we reach the training area, move to Weapons Operations."
He looked at the Recruit as he moved to the helm.
This one seems to know more then he is letting on, Sykes thought.

essentially it is to make sure each member can properly use the combat function of the game, and be able to strategize, and for players to learn not to uber or "never die"

D'afi Dook felt like he could never die. Until he looked at the controls, that was. Now he was frantically pressing buttons, changing air conditioning, changing windscreen wiper speed, but not changing altitude.

"Recruit, you CAN fly a ship can't you?"
At the awkward silence that followed, he sighed and walked over.He pressed a button labeled "Help"
"Use this, enter you Recruit Number and Password, then select training."
He looked around.
"Can ANY of you even so much as change a lighbulb on this ship?"
Silence
"Right...This is going to get bad.."
