Star Trek Review written by me (probably spoilers in it)
Ok, so I have just got back from the theatre, and to start I will say I watched the movie twice, back to back within a half an hour. So, in short ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!! It is an amazing movie, the emotion, story, characters action it is perfect, it has one of those rare times when there is a perfect balance of all of those components, plus starting a new story for us to watch. For those of us who have been wanting to see the mirror universe movie, this is similar. This movie starts and alternate reality, one where Vulcan is destroyed and the Enterprise kicks major romulan a**! It is my high advice that you see this movie, it will blow you away. The first five minutes of this movie in itself is extraordinary. It has you crying in the first few minutes. The music is incredible, it adds a whole other world to it and I give my congrats to Michael Giachinno. Now the special effects were done by ILM, and some are saying it is their best job yet, and I agree. Even though Star Wars 3 has this big space scene and all, I believe that this movie trumps its special effects. I am speechless about this movie. Like my dad says, you should like the old ones, but have room for change, cause there's lots of it! This is truly a new beginning for a once dead franchise, and Abrams and his team have done their best job yet I think. Again I implore you, SEE THIS MOVIE IN THE THEATRE, it is more than worth the money, and if you download it for free, I shall have to come and slap you, as this movie deserves to be seen in the theatre. Again, a most incredible film, I give it probaly a 9/10, maybe 9.5/10.

It's not a that big of a deal anyways.
I just don't want anyone talking about the battles, people dieing, or anything else that I might find to be awesome. LOL!
Oh, and I'm going to call peoples to go see it now.
Bye!
Re: Star Trek Review written by me (probably spoilers in it)
ok, so i've just read a summary of the star trek ARg, and it is possible that Nero and the Narada aren't dead, as they get sucked into that big black hole at the end, but it may be possible that he traveled back in time to our time to exact revenge before there was a starfleet, and apparently Fringe has some tie ins and possible clues for this. this could turn out to be very interesting!

well, abrams and co was signed for a sequel over a month ago i do believe
Re: Star Trek Review written by me (probably spoilers in it)
would the sequel really cause as much of a reaction, for some this movie was good because it was ah, a reunion something new and orignal,(ecxept for the time travel), another movie would justmake it like another 2 parter episode, but abrams has stayed good so far so ill put my faith in him and wait and see,
one trekkie somewhare on the net got pissed cause there was time travel in it.

heh, stupid trekkie, mustn't really be one then if they don't know how bug time travel is in it. and deoran, may i remind of the Dark Knight, that was sequel to Batman Begins and was equally as good if not better, and with a movie like this new trek, i thinnk they can pull it off, plus i have a hunch that the nero plotline isn't over yet and we might be seeing a story arc over the next few films
Re: Star Trek Review written by me (probably spoilers in it)

Re: Star Trek Review written by me (probably spoilers in it)
I finally went out to see it. I'll say that it was awesome, indeed! The action was just like a Bourne film, something I've come to love. And the actor who played McCoy was - ironically - one of the assassins that attempted to kill Jason Bourne in Bourne Supremacy. XD I really liked the design of the ship, and I think it's stupid that anyone would consider it '25th century' design. Realistically, it's very similar to how I think TOS would be like in real life. Instead of looking like playhouse disney, you've got a more realistic and futuristic looking bridge.
I only nitpick a little about the engineering room. Granted, the scene with Scotty getting sucked through a tube was HILARIOUS. XD But where was the warp core? Why was the room so huge... It had to take up an entire DECK. And how did Nero's toying with time change the fact that Starfleet hadn't come in contact with either the Cardassians or the Romulans before? (at least not face to face) But those are nitpicky details that - unlike most puritan trekkies - I can let slide.
I really loved the character development. While the whole alternate timeline took some getting used to and the fact that we have new actors as the young characters (instead of CGI recreations of the younger versions of Will Shatner and Leonard Nimoy), I found that the actors really acted out the parts PERFECTLY. I especially liked McCoy and Scotty! I didn't really like Spock and Uhura; that ranks up there in "Star Trek's Weirdest Couples" along with Seven of Nine and Chakotay. But it does add a whole new dimension to it!
I AM saddened by the fact it's a reboot, but it's a VERY worthy reboot! Just like Casino Royale in the Bond franchise! Puritan trekkies will bash it because it's a 'darker' Trek - what with the destruction of Vulcan and all - but I find it to be an EXCELLENT restart for the old series! Finally, Star Trek gets a good dosage of both reality and action. Humans in the movie were shown as relatively violent, considering the bothersome cadets that picked on Kirk. Spock (a VULCAN! =O) attacked Kirk out of blind fury. And through it all, they didn't even bother to rescue the villain even after he said he wouldn't accept any help at all. Under normal circumstances, Starfleet would rescue no matter what, but I like the fact that finally they have some sense to let the villains die in peace. And finally, the uniforms and the sets (aside from the engineering one) are excellent in my opinion! Perfect chance to reboot TOS to a more modern revision, in both appearance AND philosophy!
The only thing that could have made it even better was the inclusion of the mirror universe, but I'm biased there. XD It was a great movie, and despite the fact that Nero was a rather... hrm... SINGLE-MINDED villain, I'd say he looked awesome, his ship was epic, etc. The only thing I had with Nero was the fact that he'd rather go and get revenge than actually use the time traveling device to stop the problem from happening. That, and he didn't have any backup plans. XD An UNSHIELDED drilling mechanism? Yeah, no matter how epic his ship was, it was still only a MINING ship. It's funny how he thought he could destroy earth with it. And if you say "well, he destroyed Vulcan", the vulcans are pacifists. Always have been. They wouldn't have had many defenses to begin with, and he knew more about Vulcan security and such than he did Earth security. (that includes ships, defense systems, etc.)
All in all, an AWESOME movie. I have to give it an 8/10! Yeah, bash me for not giving it a 10/10, but give me a break... I'm entitled to my opinion. =P And besides, I'm really looking forward to a sequel! This radically changed Star Trek for the better, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next! =D

Re: Star Trek Review written by me (probably spoilers in it)
about the warp core, it's actuaslly several, it's those large cylinders that scotty ejects, and quite frankly, those large cylinders make much more sense, especially in a tos era setting. the thing about engineering for me is all of those layers of pipes. i liked the kelvin's engineering quite a bit though
Re: Star Trek Review written by me (probably spoilers in it)
Yeah, that's true. If we were to really get matter/anti-matter reactions to work together, it's likely we would need several 'warp cores' to really make travel like that possible. I wonder how large the Phoenix's warp core(s) were then? Nonetheless, I agree about the pipes. Makes it look like a submarine's engineering section, definitely not safe for anyone to be working in. XD Figured by the 23rd century, we'd have better safety regulations. XD

Re: Star Trek Review written by me (probably spoilers in it)
I'v seen the movie 2 times and let me say it was good. They might have a new movie. READ!!!
Franchise future
A new movie, simply titled Star Trek, was released in May 2009. The film's major cast members have signed on for two sequels, which is standard practice. Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof began writing the script for a sequel in March 2009, with the hope to complete it by December and produce the film for a mid-2011 release. J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk will produce, although Abrams has not signed to direct again as of May 2009.
