This is a story I was thinking of writing.

Dexter Growvally and his sister, Sarah, ran for their lives. Their father, Steve called to them to hurry to the barn. That would be their only safety from the onslaught.
Steve Growvallys farm was on of the few left on Earth, in the year 4141. It had a semi small white house with a wrap around porch, and a huge red , brick , barn. It housed all of their animals, which included 5 cows, 10 chickens, 3 cats, and a Collie dog, named Lassie, after the book character. Steves wife died during Sarah s birth, so it was just him and his children.
When the war between the Galactic Alliance and the Dark Ones broke out, Steve knew that sooner or later, the Dark Ones would make a strike at Earth. So he built a bunker in his barn, to house the animals and family. That was where they were running now.
His children caught up to him and with animals following. They herded the animals down a large ramp into the ground, then they themselves went into the bunker. Steve reached up and closed the hatch, their only opening. He then lit an Ion lamp. It would give 10 days of unstopping light if it had too.He looked at the terrified expressions his children had.
"I am sure that the U.N.E. can stop them," he said to comfort them, maybe even to comfort himself, "And if they don't The G.A. will."
Up above they heard a rumbling sound. Steve now regretted settling outside the giant city of New York. His farm was the perfect landing ground for any invading troops.
