Nice video DW..
You were moving so fast, I just stood there in awe! (JK)
Oh, and you have no idea how good it feels to be watching a video of your stalking victim.

sweet DW, are those circle things gonna be like support bit for an outer frame?
the closest i ever got to something like this was building crappy and wobbly ships with paper

Re: The Enterprise Project
yeah, those circles are what will hold the skin in place. i think i'm going to add some ribs going lengthwise down the hull, just for support, and to help with the contour. also, i'm trying to think of how to do the pylons, as they will be the weakest spot, yet they have to hold up the nacelles, plus, they are curved on this ship, unlike the others where they are straight. and on another note, this sucker ain't flimsy at all, i'm using some real super strong glue, and it doesn't budge a bit once dry!

Re: The Enterprise Project
well, nothing really new to add for today's entry. i've just started the nacelle, but only have three pieces cut out. the nacelle is difficult due to its odd shape, and the lack of clear forward reference pics. it's trial and error now.

why don't you, hmm (thinks..) sort of make a hexagonal or pentagonal shape and then sqaush it and let out so it's knida'o rounded but this is crap starship guy talking maybe you'd wanna use it as a last resort

Re: The Enterprise Project
sorry about the delay in the updates, but it's been slow going mostly due to busy life! anyways, this ship has to be finished in the next week, cause then I'll be out of time. so, here are a couple of new pics of the nacelles:
and me holding nacelle up to the rest of the ship

Re: The Enterprise Project
I'll bet thats going to turn out awesome! Can't wait to see the finished model!
Re: The Enterprise Project
i hope it works, i don't usually build things so i'm interested to see if i can pull it off. so far nothing is lose or wobbly, so that's a good sign, but the most challenging part is coming up, attaching the nacelles to the hull. there's not much to support the pylons, and they have to hold all of the weight of the nacelles using very little surface area
Re: The Enterprise Project
As of right now the vid isn't processed but I'll put the embed in anyways. I haven't added captions yet, that probably won't happen until sunday

aah.. poor you, everything here is free except optics. Dental care is completely free till you're 18, but doesnt cost too much after. *Big shiny smile*
And it's looking good DW. But how are you going to color it?

Re: The Enterprise Project
well, i'm getting close. the glue takes a while to dry (roughly 12 hours) so I think I'll hold off on actually attaching the nacelles, but in the following picks, you'll see me holding a nacelle up in its spot. also, I have been test different substances on the bristol board for the skin (well, will be testing with Dad). So far we have a sealer sprayed onto it, and we're going to try and put primer or something on later tonight. anyways, picture time!
I will be adding ribs to the pylons, so that they have more of a curvy shape to them

Drinking? LOL!
Nice video! I can't wait until this thing is finished.
It's cool, my sister has taken some interest in your project.
Here's some of what she said:
"How would anyone figure out how to build that?"
And then she called you the N word.
(We all know what that word is)
"Ne*d"
I think she's just jealous.
Oh, and as a side note, she likes your hair. XD
@ Shem
Nice pic!

On the other end... that means... your sister is attracted by Darkwing...
Re: The Enterprise Project
oh, that bottle was for a sketch that turned out quite well. I used soft pastels, I should scan it and show you. anyways, i'm glad your sister likes it and my um, hair (I never did like my hair, so I'm surprised somebody else does, and how could somebody know how to build that, obvious, I'm a genius of course)
Re: The Enterprise Project
ok, and we have liftoff! my biggest fear of the ship has now past, as I have attached one nacelle to the ship and it's holding fine. It wobbles a bit if you shake it, but that is unavoidable unless I made the skeleton out of like metal or something. anyways, pictures to show my latest success!

Wow, SKIN IT!
Note: Heh, I'm not the only one!
I'm one of the few teens around here that actually wear a watch.
So many kidos are so reliant on the cell phones for telling time, but no, I rebel!
