SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. – A 12-year-old boy who fatally shot his mother after an argument over his chores was found guilty of premeditated murder.

Judge James Conlogue found the boy guilty after a hearing Friday in Cochise County Superior Court in the southern Arizona town of Bisbee. The boy is not being identified because he was charged as a juvenile.

Conlogue ruled that prosecutors had proved the boy acted intentionally and with premeditation when he shot Sara Madrid, 34, eight times on Aug. 1. The shooting happened after the boy had argued with his mother over his chores.

Halo? That's just stupid. Even more pathetic than the chores one, because the article does state that the mother didn't really want the kid and, well, neglect and stuff.

*Sigh* You people, read the article. Especially you, Jtull. He shot his mother not because of the chores, but because she was neglecting him and abusing him to a degree.

@ Shemuel - he can't be held longer than 6 years because he was tried as a juvenile, not as an adult. If they just let him go until he turns 18 and then try him, he would probably get a life sentence for premeditated murder. Not sure how it works in the UK, but 18 is when a person becomes legal in the US.

Like alk said, his mother treated him like shi* and didnt even want him, she probably gave him ALL the house chores instead of giving him some and doing some herself. It's no wonder he went mad and shot her, all those years must have had an effect on him. You should read the article before posting.

Whether she was mistreating him or not, all he had to do was wait a few years and then he'd be certain to be able to beat the stuffing out of her.

Yeah i know, it said supposedly but that's probably because they havent found any evidence or anyone who has seen her treat him badly, i dont think he snapped and killed her just because she told him to do the dishes or take out the trash though.

the trouble with that age is finding out if he knew what he just did, that he knew that shoot = kill and death = bad.

for him it could be just any normal tantrum that you and i would throw at that age.

Actually 12 isnt very young, sure, you're still not 100% grown up but you know the consequences and shooting someone=kill, shooting his mom: no more mistreatment and all that. only thing he probably didnt understand was that he's going to jail for it
