New Media Section

So....what's everyone's opinion on the new layout for the media gallery? There's still a couple tweaks, mainly with the Vids gallery, the only problem is that the refresh rate isn't anywhere close to instant and refreshing your browser won't change anything. I'm pretty sure I have it as fast as it's gonna go and it does update eventually, but anyways, hopefully you guys like, it's a bit more visual than the rest of the forum which is nice

its really nice, but i just find it hard to navigate through regular threads.
it goes fast enough for me. the worst part is, the gamming section is gone!
intentional or no?

As for regular threads, the point is to sort of eliminate them, or rather limit them to the discussion section. Though in retrospect, it looks like I forgot the View All button for that one

alright i see how it works now. I can definitely get used to it, I kinda like it.
one more thing though. Every time we add a new pic or video it shows up on the portal too, taking up space in the latest topics. kind of redundant.

Unfortunately I can't change that as that's an overall widget made by FM

That's cause it's a new thread and I didn't have time to finish the pics section before work today

Ok, so one thing I've done to the music section is made it sort alphabetically by topic title (so now we'll have a cool library!) I am gonna take the time and start going through the old music thread and adding the songs there into our new library (poke my eyes out please) so that does bring me to something. When naming the title of your topic, I'm assuming it makes more sense to name it:

Band Name - Song Name

That way all the songs by the same bands will be grouped together due to the order of the alphabet, unless people think we should name it

Song name - Band Name

In which case it will sort everything alphabetically by song name and therefore multiple songs by the same bands will get strewn all over tarnation.

But feel free to go and repost some of your older music in the new music catalogue, just be sure to make a new thread for each song (that's the best way right?

Orrrrr, should we make threads that are simple the band name and then if somebody has something from that band they post there? Of course then it wouldn't pop up in the new media page and if people get going on a discussion it'll be kinda random ie: post, post, post, song, post, song, post post, song etc

Oh and one other thing, when posting from youtube, it would be muchly appreciated if you would use the 480x390 embed option, it's the second smallest and fits the best in our new media page

Quite. Well, it's actually just a bunch of RSS Feeds really, all compiled in one shiny Portal page. I'm thinking of adapting our primary portal to be more like the media one

Oh, had another idea. Should we put a poll of a 5 star rating on each song/vid? That way users can rate the song or vid, might be a cool way to see how popular things are

For music, I think you should just go by band OR genre
