Who Here Can Write Software?

I'v had like a brilliant idea, one of those ones that if acted upon could potentially make one quite wealthy if it all worked out, it's a crazy notion I had after reading an article my dad sent me, and it got me to thinking. So who here has like programming experience, namely in server/chat type technology

Oh crap... You're going to try making a multiplayer game, arent you? No offence, but i doubt you can finish it. Hell, i doubt you would be able to finish it even if you had the dedication. Making multiplayer games is hard, succesful ones even harder.

Well, my dad is good with that, i can ask him questions, he has a 4 computer server right now, i am useing it....but you cant use it for your application though.....he wont let you....

I know some JScript and VB, and plenty of foobar music player titleformatting! But probably nothing of use.

You could write one in flash, I know that there are a lot of free web chat servers. (BTW, remember, about a year ago I think we covered some of this technology research together in the chatbox.)

no, what I'm thinking of can't be done with flash, it's essentially the merging of two major web apps plus some other fun things

I think I could try to make one of those apps in VB .Net... But you would need to get a server running 24/7 for it to work... I will try to check that...

Anyway, I checked, and lets say, to do a web app we would need a windows server that supported ASP.Net, and the computer that I have could, at best, only run a Linux Ubuntu Server... That is... If I use that P2 pc, with 126 mb's of RAM, that now has windows 98...

But can you tell me exactly what you want? At least the basis of what you need? Then those extras can be added later...

*Sigh* I know what you mean... I really could use some money right now. But i dont know anything about coding... Or any of that stuff.

this project is probably a little big for any of us. it's just an idea that if i had connections/resources, could be a worthy business venture

Hmmm... ok... I will still give you a base project of that, you shall see...

i might be able to send you a project of mine that i nearly completed when i was determined to make a mmorpg based on monkeys and a zoo, if i can find it. (it also has a few built in commands like to fling feces at another chatter, if you want that included, tell me)
