Together or Separated

Ok, so I was wondering, and you don't have to answer, are your parents still together or separated. Mine separated when i was about 6 years old.

Mine have been separated since I was 2. They have both since remarried in later years.

My Dad left when I was Six months old, haven't seen him since.

Mine are still together... Although Dad must leave in a month for a NATO assignment...

My parents are still together. They're coming up on their 23rd anniversary in the fall I do believe

This topic makes me Depressed....

Depressed because your parents are separated or because society as a whole is in shambles?

I'm gonna go with both, plus I ran out of Cookies...I eat cookies when i'm depressed. There my Comfort food, so to say.

Meh, it's alright, it wasn't mainly this, it was a collection of things that happened yesterday.

Seperated since.. dunno. Aint seen my dad for a year but I'm cool with that. As he married someone he'd known for 3 weeks.

I'm not sure really what gets into people though. Like why do people treat "love" and marriage so loosely? Why do you get into a marriage without thinking about the ramifications? And it does sort of come down to selfishness though if you think about it, people divorcing that is. They get so caught up in what they're feeling that they neglect their responsibility and duty as a spouse, a parent etc. They just don't fully grasp that their life effects other lives and once you become part of the web, you can't just leave it

Less people are getting divorced now than they were ten years ago, but that's because less people are getting married. Mine are still together though...for now.

It's a very hard job finding someone you can live with and love for the rest of your life. I'm sure some people don't think, but a large part of people getting divorced nowadays would not have done so decades before because of the stronger social stigma that existed then.
Interestingly, Malta is voting (possibly today) on whether to allow divorce.

Yeah. That and imaging the rest of your life is rather difficult.

No, they're voting on whether to allow it.

No, although there were loopholes, eg. if one of the couple was a foreigner.

The electorate has now voted 'yes' for allowing divorce.

Problem with using free will is it gets messy as to where to draw the line. To take it to the extreme, we don't allow murder. Why not? Doesn't the murder have as much right and free will to kill someone as those of us who don't.

But again, just pointing out examples of how using free will as an argument for anything, only makes things messy

Not really, it's only natural progression. Of course we could always go the route of marrying kids or something.

Most religions holy books or whatever else they have state somewhere that it is sinful to marry an animal. But seriously.. who want to marry an animal?

Most religious texts also see homosexuality as sinful.

It amazing how sad people can be though, people can now marry online and somebody got arrested a few years ago for Murdering someone in a virtual world. The world is in need of a doctor.

i've killed plenty of people in runescape and that's not illegal. So if it's along the lines of that, which i doubt it is, but if it is, then some people and cops have way too much time on their hands.

But what is sanity? Sanity is simply logic and if you can deduce and reason things out logically, then you can technically be sane and still commit criminal acts.

True. Everybody has a personal level of sanity that cannot be measured accuratly over a large population.... if that makes sense.

An interesting movie to watch is Alfred Hitchcock's "The Rope". It sort of deals with being a killer and being sane at the same time, though of course by the end of it, the sanity of our killer is debatable

Most cerial killers become cerial killers from experiences or 'hobbies' dur in child hood. Such as dissecting animals which can soon turn to a little more than a hobbie.

Yeah but we're not primitive humans anymore. Getting killed in a Virtual world and avenging it in the virtual world is less primitive than going out and actually avenging it in a real death.

Well, us not being primitive is debatable in my opinion...

It all depends on where the rest of the universe stands. Supposing there is life out there we are primitive or non-primitive depending on weather other species are more or less advanced than ourselves. On this planet we are the advanced species and others are primitive.

I think you are forgetting a word which is technologically. We are technologically advanced, but other than that, we're pretty much animals. We're still primitive, it's just more complicated now. How about an example.
What do we strive for? Money, power. What do we do to get it? Anything. I mean we're pretty barbaric if you think about it, we'll step on the heads of others with no regard for them, their life, all we're concerned over is ourselves.
