TL;DR: Rupert murdoch is about to take over a company with a 50% market hold of the UK. That will give him control of 87% of the UK media. Scroll down to the bottom, click the link, put in your email, name and select your country to join a list of people who want the UK gov to stop him.

Rupert Murdoch is an asshole who happens to own one of the world's biggest media empires. He's the one behind the fox network (which has been spouting inaccurate propaganda for years), he has been shitting all over western democracy by foul mouthing politicians who refuse to follow his agenda, curb stomping US climate change bills and he's just generally a massive dick who will make the western world very happy when he dies.

He tried to make a beachhead in Canada by manipulating Canadian politicians into easing up the country's journalistic standards (making it possible for him to spout the same biased, inaccurate propaganda he's been spouting in the US) and providing his Canadian channels with tax payer money. He was stopped by the people. And we, the people, will stop him again, this time in Europe.

Murdoch already owns 37% of the UK media (which is why he is getting so much support from so many political parties in the UK), but he wants more. He is right now trying to take control of BSKYB, which accounts for almost 50% of the UK's media. He will have a true monopoly on information in the UK. Once he's polluted the UK's media, who says he'll stop there? He might just go on and start a takeover of the French and German medias, putting him in control of the heart and mind of the Union which has remained a bastion of human rights, and one of the world's biggest supporter of enviromental regulation. Hell, let's say he takes control of BSKYB. That's bad enough. I mean, It's the UK, one of Europe's most important nations. And trust me, he will fuck things over.

Russia Today, the news channel that is funded by the Russian government to spread news from a Russian perspective solely to the non-Russian world? Not a means of propaganda at all.
I mean BBC is really great, despite providing the world service and being taxpayer funded, it is truly as impartial as possible and has no looming dodgy government like Putin's affecting it.

Newspapers are quite important also for the analysis and overview that TV sites can't allocate time for and internet news sites often don't include.

Yeah, i love the BBC. Best source of information out there. They do what a channel is supposed to do, give you the information, show you the good and bad on all sides and let you make a conclusion yourself. Unlike fox and similar channels, which pretty much just try to drive an agenda forward.

Yeah, i was surprised too. There's the occasional American, but they're very few. It's mostly Canadians, Euros and South Americans.

Actually, I really only see lots of Americans when it's smaller stuff, they're rarely around when It's something big. Like, for an example, Avaaz had this petition against GM food (I didn't sign it, just wanted to see how many there were) and it was filled to the brim with Americans. Maybe Americans aren't very interested in what happens outside the US or something. Kind of like the Swedes i know, unfortunately...
