Minecraft
So, this will be the minecraft discussion, a minecraft guide made by the FT community and an attempt to bring DW/more people to the light. And, well, this is where all minecraft related stuff will be. Except the review of course.

Re: Minecraft
Guide; Sandstone Quarrying.
You've found a huge, picturesque desert. It's absolutely gorgeous. You might even have found an oasis (like i did! yay). And now you want to breathe life into it by building a town.
However, a wooden or stone town in the middle of a desert would just be hideous, you're going to need sandstone. Thousands upon thousands of it if you want a respectable town with lookout towers, statues, monuments and maybe even a road linking the town to the rest of your little nation.
But you might have noticed that sandstone is very hard to extract. It's at the bottom of sand piles, the desert you are in right now being a massive sand pile. For each squared pile there is 1-2, or maybe even 3 if you're incredibly lucky, slabs of sandstone. Now, almost all materials in minecraft stay in the air even when whatever is supporting them is removed, but It's not the same for sand. Sand falls if there's an empty square under it, and if it falls on you, you'll asphyxiate to death.
How do you get mass amounts of sandstone then? It's actually quite simple, but very time consuming and destructive. You simply dig up all the sand in a large area, then mine the now bare sandstone. However, keep in mind that this will create an absolutely massive eyesore unless you're ready to fill it up with sand again. So i recommend building a boat and finding a large sandy beach area and turning it into a quarry. Just remember to wall off the water from your new quarry with wood or some other abundant material (yes, diamond block dams are pretty pimp, but don't. Just don't.).
Or you could mine your desert and rebuild it. Just get a large amount of wood or cobblestone and build a layer of it about two layers from where you want ''ground level'' to be, and use the sand you dug up to make the final (two if you want) layer(s), and voila, you now have a shitload of sandstone and a ''pristine'' desert.
