TGMC #1: Lightsaber
For my first model of the great modeling challenge, figured I'd start with a quick and fairly easy one, Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from Return of the Jedi.
Re: TGMC #1: Lightsaber
They look really cool, I think after you add some colour onto them they will look awesome.

Re: TGMC #1: Lightsaber
Thanks, yeah, I can't wait to get reflections and stuff going on this, though it'll make render times a bit longer
Re: TGMC #1: Lightsaber
What does render times mean?

Re: TGMC #1: Lightsaber
A render is when the computer processes and saves an image like the one in the first post. Now there's many options, but the more stuff you have going on, AO, Shadows, Reflections, Particles, Effects, model density, all make the time for the render go up. That picture took about 8 minutes to render and save to my HDD.
And here's the modeling bit finished, now to texture and then it's finished

Re: TGMC #1: Lightsaber
Thanks! I think next up is the JJPrise, a somewhat more intensive model, but hopefully won't take more than a few weeks

Re: TGMC #1: Lightsaber
Yes it is, anything from that style or universe is now usually abbreviated with a JJ in front of it, such as its name, JJverse

Find good orthos and I may do that one.
Also, use your arrow keys, they at least scroll the page and using the tab function will select buttons
(I used to have a 98 with no mouse)
