Yeah. *warning - old guy moment* It's hard to think of now-a-days. Back when I was 7 science fiction was Star Trek. Most people still thought of science fiction in terms of the late 50s Ed Woods B-movies where you could see the lables on the upside-down pie plates hanging from strings. The biggest science fiction movies to ever come out were Barbarella and 2001.

Then Star Wars came. Its hard to think now how just astoundingly cool watching that first flyby of the Imperial Star Destroyer was. How amazing the costuming in the cantina scene was. How much your adrenalin pumped when Luke and Han jumped into the Falcon's gun turrets. Oh, I'd never seen anything cooler than that.

If Star Wars had never been made, Star Trek TMP would never have been made and The Franchise would probably have never been revived.

I say maybe we should let this thread die in peace and if somebody new hasn't gotten a chance to state his favorite character, well... We'll let him make another thread for it and move this one. Then we can see if anybody's opinions changed over a period of time
