Try the beginning as loud as you can stand it

The bass makes or breaks music for me. If there's noticeable low end, I'm extremely happy.

I like balance between the bass and the treble. I love chords (mainly because it's balance)

a good frequency responce just in range should be for headphones or earphones be 20Hz - 20,000Hz however at the low end they should have high energy output and going lower towards the 1Khz range and maintain clarity and balance through the higher waveforms. however energy output with single frequency waveforms is only half the story. think about how each instrument sounds. as a individual eg does the kick have punch to it or does it sound like a cardboard box being kicked? if it sounds bad then your missing some low mid range in your speakers. (this also applies to mixing) if guitars are tinny or the cymbals are painful to listen to and vocals are tunny and just sound wrong, there will be to much in the 1Khz area this is considered mid range so on a 6 channel eq it would be both low mid and high mid. if things sound hissy then the high end is too high.

have a think about what parts of the music you really enjoy hearing and buy earphones to suit that.

speakers well that is a entirely new subject that I could write about but unless people want to know I shall save it.
