Money over People
I find it very unfortunate that the world runs on money. It's amazing how tempting money is to people and how it can make them make moral compromises, even minor ones. People don't mean anything anymore. We're simply automatons and if companies had their way, they'd use robots as they wouldn't have to pay people. It's disappointing that we mean so little to each other, that we put some insignificant piece of paper before that of not just one human, but whole groups of them. How did we get to being such that materialism meant so much more than people? Is it just that we never cared about our fellow neighbour before, but we didn't have all this technology and materialism for it to manifest to the degree it is now? People used to mean something to each other, honour, dignity, respect, all traits that have been lost.
But it does seem that through history we've always been this way, whether it be with how many wives one could have or how many horses or whatever, it seems we care more about foolish stuff, petty, insignificant toys over people. People with spirits, minds and wills of their own. Are we really such a decrepit race? Such an abomination to this earth? Why? Why must we follow this path, why can't we forge another one. Why must we fall into the temptations of greed and measurement, wealth and status? I hate to sound to naive, but I wish we could all just get along in this world.

Re: Money over People
I think what bothers me even more than this, is that money has such a hold on people, that the individual can make absolutely no difference. The only way would basically be for every person to just give up working. But that won't happen because then they'll lose their jobs and not get money. It's a sick, sick trap
Re: Money over People
We're basicly animals. We have instincts that can be really hard to get rid of, and it's said instincts that make the world such a shitty place. However, with the right moral education, most people can go beyond their instincts and be good people.

Re: Money over People
By the way, if the world didn't revolve around money, society would break down since no one has a reason to work anymore, and most people seem to be selfish, lazy bums.
Also, robots are more than just a cost cutting measure. When it comes to making the more advanced electronics and advanced circuitry, robots are so much more effective and precise than even the best human.

Re: Money over People
Yep, considering most of the people running companies went to places and got this good education. And then most people can't get education because of, waddya know, money and the education system is corrupt and biased anyways
Re: Money over People
And the thing with not working for money, is hundreds of years ago, people didn't work so much for money, but to survive. Like yes, they worked for money, don't get that wrong, but most didn't make enough to survive on by monetary means, so you grew your own food and cleaned up your own messes
Re: Money over People
I meant they need to learn what's good and what's not. They need to have it drilled into them to the point where it's part of their character. What i'm saying is, they need a moral upbringing with a family that actually devotes alot of time to said upbringing. A university education probably won't change you that much morally.

Re: Money over People
Yeah, I agree with 100%. There's little to no emphasis on a good, wholesome up-bringing, raising good people to help the world, not hinder it for the person's own benefit
Re: Money over People
Really, there is nothing we can do about it, like it or not. People who do set good examples are looked over and ignored. I think the amish are thinking in the right direction, but look how many there are, not much.

Re: Money over People
You know... Everyone wants power... How to get that? Money = Power... But not always... having the power to change society for the better is power... But another power, diferent from the one money gives, is harder to adquire, since it includes changing the mind of an individual...
Re: Money over People
We should start a revolution, and try and destroy money oh wait that happened before it resulted in the ussr

Re: Money over People
Money, or any form of credits is the best system available. Sure, it would be great if we could make a system where everyone can have what he needs in exchange for services to society, but that would basicly be a really shitty version of the monetary system, where people only get what they need. No luxuries (like games, film, books and other entertainment) for you, only food, drink, clothing and some other basic stuff, if we make it more advanced, we have money, just with a new name. The monetary system might be flawed, but it's the best we have, and probably the best we'll ever have unless we change somehow.

Sure thing! Now you can have eggs for breakfast and I can play video games! See, wouldn't that be an awesome system?
Re: Money over People
