Server Help Empty Server Help

Post by Evil Person 2010-10-31, 23:09

So i play this online game, its still in the Alpha Stages, its called minecraft, i was thinking of hosting my own server, and another person who has a server says that even my crappy 2000 can run it, now my father is very strict on this kionda stuff and i am probibly not gonna tell him if i do make a server.

Before i do.

What are the risks, how can he find out, and can my computer be perminetly damaged from this.

Basically i want to know is, if he looks at our network, will he see the server thing on my computer.

How can i hide it so he cant.

tell me if this is a good idea or not, lol Very Happy

Note: My father used to work in computers, so keep that in mind when responding.

Ps: U'r screwed... When the internet bill arrives, he will definitly notice that...

Now, even on unlimited trafic, they sent you "bills" with the downloads and uploads you made... Only that will be enough to know that something is happening..

to respond to the topic servers are as sure as the firewall is so keep that in mind, also if you want to have a server that pc must run a program that does those things , and that means that you'd have to be a PC newbie not to observe a new program running and consuming a big part of the CPU , even if it 's somehow not so visible program it will appear in the taskmanage s o there 's no hiding

Post by Evil Person 2010-11-01, 12:26

He has his own computer, i am the only one who uses this peace of crap, for the reason its a 2k and verything else is an xp or above.

And i dont have a computer that he wont notice it on unless its my 2k, and on of the server owners said it would be fine on my 2k, even though it doesent even run the program.

Ok who has Verizon, we have some sort of Verizon Fiber Optic Router......its really good, never goes down (92% of the time its up)

And i download shit al the time and he never notices........so basically, how much would this make the bill go up?

ANd who has verizon, i need to know this now before i listen to anyone of you talking about it will show up on the bill, these are my prime concearns.

1. How Much will the bil go up.

2. Will he see the server from another computer

3. Will it kil my computer, even just a small server, and the maps are only like 5 kb-4 mb btw

4. Someone give me a straight answer please Very Happy

5. Can i get a virus or anything from this.

6. I am not the most knowlagable with computers......so someone explain this in english (though i know alittle more than average.....i am not a computer genuis)

I have a Pentium III Proccesor 730 MHz

And it meets all of the requirements, i dont see why its not working,

I get the hs_err_pid error on the computer i am using to connect with, then when i cant get on, i notice that all of the server things set back to 16 players, and 3 connections, and all that.
