Quoted for truth. Balance little girls, balance. If some of these people actually spent time dealing with real life, they wouldn't have the energy to wonder if Stacy is gettin it on with Bobby behind her boyfriend's back.Philly Homer wrote:No. Depends on how much you emotionally and physically invest in it.

Re: Facebook Ruins Lives
Why is that like one of the main dreams and wishes of most people? To be lounged on some beach every hour of the day doing nothing? That is one I just can't comprehend

Tanning, watching the babes, surfing, etc. It's awesome, and it sucks for you cause you're in a beach in Canada

Well, Canada has nice beaches, but on like the west coast. The water's very cold here in the east, but regardless, we have some nice beaches regardless of the water temperature

Both. He probably offers free prostate exams too.Philly Homer wrote:Do you swim in the water? Do you go old-man-ass watching?
Re: Facebook Ruins Lives
I can't swim and no, I don't go old man ass watching contrary to popular belief. I don't offer prostate exams either
Re: Facebook Ruins Lives
LOL
Do you know what I do for a living now? Really, I'm being serious. (Not prostate exams, but in the same ballpark)

Re: Facebook Ruins Lives
Of course it does... It's only my second day on that thing and I'm already addicted to it xD
Re: Facebook Ruins Lives
(FYI. I skipped all these messages except a few others.)
Well, depends how you use it. Particularly, how often you go online and stuff like that.
It can really be addicting to a lot of people, so that is when it can ruin lives. but it can also do the opposite, take note.

Reading the topic might have helped as to defining the specifics and that we kinda covered that already, but I understand, it is 6 pages long ATM

Facebook doesn't ruin lives. It's in inanimate, unliving website. People ruin their own lives.

That is true, however, had I not been on Facebook, the events that had occurred never would have happened

So are people who like the telephone dumb? What about people who like to mail letters to people? What about people who like to talk to people? Are they all dumb as well? Just curious
Re: Facebook Ruins Lives
What I mean is people who spend hours and hours a day on facebook, the difference between facebook and a telephone or face to face is it's not an actually conversation. It's not personal at all, no effort like in a letter all you do is type.

Re: Facebook Ruins Lives
Oh naturally. So using a pen makes it more legit huh? And not an actual conversation? So we're not conversing now then? If not, than what are we doing? We're not talking, we're not listening, writing obviously is disqualified so what? What is this then?

I was getting ready for bed when i began thinking about the digital revolution and generation y (I am part of generation z). Generation y was the first generation to have the modern "web" this dramatically changed their lives. Suddenly they had this new technology and there was little knowledge about it. (NOTE: when i say "modern internet" i mean Instant Messaging, Social networking sites, Texting, etc.)
Generation Z is the first generation born with it. Whether we realize it or not our lives are entirely shaped by this technology. Because of that we simply write down our feelings. Less and less do we actually feel them. When we write our thoughts and see the text the text itself becomes the feeling. We no longer have the emotional depth to express ourselves. more and more people don't care. Foe many people if they have a fight they go on the internet and say something like " Just had a fight. I am very sad", but usually with more words. The person typing is usually thinking "I cat wait until somebody pittys me and writes a reply". Wouldn't the truth be " I just had a fight. Now I just want all of you to know that i had a fight. Now I would like to have a conversation so please write a reply. ;P" Why do we do this? why don't we go do something. Instead of living a world of false feelings why don't we go do something about this. By the next generation I predict that people will not care at all and face to face interaction wont be necessary to fill the social need. Unless this generation vows to change, Change may never happen.

At the end of the day we never actually see anyone, all we interperate as vision is phontons of light at diffrent energy levels, we never hear anyone why just turn, pressure waves in the air into sound so, there is never any human interaction, infact we are not really human were just an arrangment of atoms in a specific order which just so happen to have self awarness

There we go, someone knows what they're talking about! And I do believe I am Generation Y as the net was invented I think, but it was still only for like military use and whatnot, but I can remember when things like IM became available and when the public could begin to create and customize their own content

I liked what you said about the pity posts. So true. And sympathy doesn't really help us resolve issues. Often, it's just a waste of time.

Well, I refute what I said. Facebook indeed does ruin lives.
