Part II

"I say, old chap, do you mind if I borrow that after you've finished with it?" Said Ioan " I left in a bit of a hurry, and I hadn't shaved in a while before that"

Vex Valkyrie was so annoyed, he had tryed every method to break the ropes, binding his hands.

He remembered he had a folding sword, Excalibur. He tried to see if he had it.

He remembered concealing it, in a secret compartment in his large, boots.

He reached down with his tied hands, and opened the compartment. As he was about to slide out the sword, he heard the door, start to creak open. He quickly closed the compartment, and lay onto the cold floor, acting unconcious.

"Yeah, sure... but clean the razor before and after the act..."

And thrown the machine over Ioan...

It doesn't exactly fold. It is like a toy lightsaber. The top is smaller than the next peice, so it fitts in. And so on, and so on.

In the end, you have just the hilt, cause the bottom part fits in the hilt, and everyother peice fits in the bottom part.

(But then it wouldn't be very stable. Plus if you were in maximum security they would change clothing. But whatever, it might work)

(yea but it's in a secret compartment in my boot. They don't chnage boots. Just clothes)

Anyways, I guess I'll have to act the gaurd that comes in. (DW read my last post)

As Vex quickly closed the secret compartment, and lay down on the floor, a huge, gaurd came in.

Vex tried to keep his breathing limited. He could sense the Gaurd came closer. Then suddenly the gaurd stamped his gigantic foot, and nearly shook the groud, Vex shifted a bit, rolled on a bone, and grunted.

"Uh oh," Vex thought, as the guard said, "I know you're awake."

Vex acted asleep. It just....might work.

"Well I'll just shoot you then", said the gaurd.

As Vex heard the gaurd reach for his gun, he quickly got up and kicked the gaurd in the *nuts*.

The gaurd grunted, and crumpled down to the floor.

Vex heard footsteps of the other gaurds coming in, and reached for the fallen gaurd's gun, but he was too late.

The gaurd burst in and shot Vex square on the arm.

Vex could see the waves a blood rush down his arm, and the last thing he heard was,

"Take him to Medical"

I jumped into my chair... I was with a smiley face... "They might help us with the job of recovering Addar..." I interrupted my though... "And it will be the first time in two weeks I see her without being by a computer screen..."

"Course ploted..." Said I "We're making the reentry..."

"Great... How much time will we be here?" Asked Bayhes...

"One, two days tops..." Said I... "We're landing in a pad in the edge of the village..."

"If they have landing pads, why don't they have a controller?" Asked Bayhes...

"No traffic exists in here... The only time they have a controller is when they have a fleet staging there before attacking Order border planets..."

"Ahh... So, this village is pratically a backwater planet that is right in the middle of a conflict but is ignored completly?"

"Yes... And it isn't completly backwater cause they've internet access... And much of the comodities of a modern home... Their architecture only reflects the planet where they're... It's late 20th century village architecture, nothing more..."

"Right..." Said Bayhes... "Good luck with the landing..."

"Aye, sir..."

A minute later, the Nightcrawler was touching down on the landing pad... The Stealth Field was innactive due to the Order Fleet in there had just return to their base, without seeing nothing...

After the touchdown, Bayhes left the ship with Cross. They moved to the main building, and down the steps into the basement. There they found high ranking members of the resistance, all looked up as they entered.
"Bayhes. Good to see you are alive. We thought you were dead, and you too Cross." Said one of them
"I'm not dead. They tried but failed. And now I am here and I have one thing to say. Tell me where Haven is."
"Haven? I don't know what your talking about"
"I'm not going to ask again."
The people all looked at eachother anxiously.
"Bayhes..Even if we knew..We wouldn't say. We couldn't. You know what it is, what it was. We can't tell you where it is!"
"Then you do know. Tell me now."
"No...We can't. We won't tell you where it is."
"Then you aren't needed."
Bayhes and Cross drew their weapons and shot everyone in the room. They then took all the PDAs and other pieces of intel and left. They locked the door behind them and returned to the Nightcrawler to look over the information they had recovered.

"Where are we gentlemen? I'm sorry to be a pain, but I thought you said you could drop me off at Planet 0275?"

"Probably. But Borrego needs to do something here first, then we'll see."

*where's DW?*

Vex was taken to the medical bay for getting shot.

Again, he slowly came to conciousness, staring at a white-grey tiled ceiling.

He remembered what had happened, and tried to jump up from his bed, but he was restrained to it.

He could see he was in a cell.......with medical instruments, and a med-bed in it.

The door was locked, with 10 gaurds around it.

One of the gaurds turned around and saw him awake.

He pushed his com, "Alert Admiral Doyle. Our prisoner is awake".

I had texted Rachel so she would guide me around... I was now walking at her right with my hand on her left back pocket... "Control yourself, please..." was I thinking... in the meanwhile, we arrived there...

"So, will you wait here for me while I deal a few business?" Asked I...

"Ok..." Said Rachel with a sweet voice... I kissed her before getting in...

I entered the building... It was similar to a Romanic Court... Someone guided me to the governors office... The governor was a tall women, with brown hair and blue eyes... I was now asking myself "Why is everyone up here good looking?"...

"Oh... Hello there..." Said the governor in a cordial voice... "You must be Borrego..."

"Yes, I am..." Said I...

"You're here because you want to contact our supreme commander, right?"

"Yes, am I..."

"And what makes you think he will listen to you?"

"Nothing... I'm just here to ask for help in rescuing a person ilegally arrested by the New Order..."

"Hm... Maybe you will be able of work him around if he's in a good day... Ok... I will prepare a meeting between you two..."

"Thank you governor..."

And the women exited into a side room of her office...

Doyle entered the med-cell. He had a limp and was leaning on a metal cane. He stood facing Vex, with the bars separating the two of them. Doyle put both hands on his cane and rested his weight on it

"So. I think you have some explaining to do Mr Valkyrie"

The governor told me to enter in the Room... there were two screens turned on, and a third screen shut down... In each screen there was one man, both looked to be in their mid-50's...

"Hello..." Said I...

"Hello, Mr. Borrego..." Said the President... "So, what's your business with us?"

"I would like to ask you a favor..."

"Say it..." Said the other guy, looking to be the Prime Minister...

"I have in my possession informations on a carrier ship carrying political prisioners only..."

"And?" Said the Prime Minister...

"And, it happens that one of those it's a friend of mine, and..." Said I until I was interrupted by the president:

"You would like our help to get it back, am I right?"

"Yes, sir..."

"Well, we would help, but our constitution splits the military, executive, legislativa and judicial powers in three hands... And we're missing one right now..."

"Who?"

"Supreme Commander Ioan Davies..." Said the President... "He was lost in a disaster that ocurred in Savannah... Not an order attack, indeed..."

"Wait... we have a guy that bordered our ship during some battle in Savannah..." Said I... "But I didn't know he was so important..."

"So... you're saying that you've Commander Davies with you?" Asked the Prime Minister...

"Yes, we do..."

"You bring it right here, and then we can talk about that..." Said the president...

"Here, where?"

"Planet 0275... It's were our mobile command center is located right now... It's landed under a few Stealth Field generators in that planet..." Said the Prime Minister

"Well... makes sense... He wanted to go there..."

"Please, bring it, and then we might reward you with your request..." Said the President, right before both screens shut down...

Ahh well... That was easy...

Vex Straightened himself up.

He thought of his options.

He could confess, and face the consequences. Yeah, like that's going to happen.

Or he could lie.

Or he could act innocent.

"Um.....Do I know you", Vex stalled, "...and how do you know my name??"

"Come now Valkyrie, I know the game your playing and it won't work. Remember, you belonged to me and you still do. You can try to hide like you did, but in the end, I always catch up"

Vex cleared his throat.

"Well....uh.....I....was....uh....captured by the...uh......um.....BSES!! Yes, the BSES. They...um..forced me?" Vex tried to make up a story. It wasn't going well.

"The BSES haven't been around in ten years! I know, I destroyed them! And I used you to do it. Now, you can tell me where it is and we save a lot of pain and trouble, or..."

Two tough marines stand forward

She looked decepcioned, when I told her that I should have to leave that night...

"C'mon, don't be sad..." Said I... "You know I love you from down the heart..."

"Yeah, I know, but..." Started Rachel with a sad voice and face... "I wanted you to be more around..."

"You know, it's thanks to you that I picked up this side... This life..." Started I...

"What do you mean by that?"

"I always dreamt about my 'dream' girl... And I, somehow, know it it wouldn't be on Earth..." Said I... "I kinda left due to that 'dream'... But when I found you, That made my mind clear..."

"Again, I'm not following you..."

"It's just that I love you, and I'm whiling to fight for you, such a freedom lover, no matter the cost! While I was living on Earth, I never saw such sens of freedom as the one we saw here... And you worked has the stamp who closes a letter before it's sent! It just made my mind clearer! And gave me a new reason to keep trying..."

"So... you're doing all this, for me?" Said Rachel...

"Yes!" I interrupted... "And, you know, I only leave tonight late or tomorrow, morning, so... wanna enjoy the time it's left?"

"How?"

"A walk on the beach, like our first kiss?"

"Ok..." She smilled again, and that made my heart go back into it's place: being happy and fighting for that happyness...

Bayhes was sitting in his quarters when the intercom activated.
"Bayhes. Get to the communications room. We need to talk."
Bayhes got up slowly, recognizing the voice. He notified his men, and they all went to the communications room. When inside, he locked the door and activated the comms.
"You wanted to see me?"
"Yes, I did want to see you Bayhes. I see you have brought a few friends. I don't remember saying you could. And for that matter, I think I recognize these people. They are your former sqaud members, from before you were even in the Blackstar Sqaud, aren't they?"
"Yes. They are. And I'm not going to exclude them from our little deal. You want my help, they have offered theirs. Either you accept me and them or you go and find someone else to run your errands."
"We both know that only you can do this. And for that reason, they can tag along. It would help to have more able bodied people for this most hazardous of tasks. But now to the point. Have you been successful in locating it?"
"No. The resistance leaders wouldn't say. I found some other intel in the room though. It mentions somewhere called "Planet L-15", it says it has one of the old facilities there."
"Yes..L-15. That is where the origional facilities were, far from the public. You must go there. The journey will be dangerous. The area was abandoned after the incident, and all personell evacuated. It will most likely be under New Order guard. Stealth is the key to getting in. You know what you have to do."
The communication channel closed. Bayhes turned to his men.
"Well. So much for staying here. We have to move."
He pulled a handheld radio out of his belt.
"Borrego, are you finishing any time soon?"

Mr Borg... no, I'm deleting that because that is too obvious and assumes I'm stupid

"Yes, I'm now returning to the ship..." Replied I...

A few minutes later, I asked:

"Do we need to drop anyone, besides Mr. Davies?" Asked I, trying not to reveal his rank...

Ok trying again.

"Well, even if I give you the information, what keeps you from....killing me??", Vex asked. "And if I don't give you the information, I don't see anything....umm....that bad could happen. My new ship happened to have some armor in it. I put it on. You'll find it nearly impossible to take it off if that's waht your thinking"

"Anyways, the way I see it you've got it all wrong. I mean you don't even know if I have information. Plus I could be an imposter. "

Vex stalled for time. He needed to think of something smart, but he knew the Admiral was not stupid, so whatever it was, it would have to be soon, and fast.

Vex looked around. The two marines looked really masculan, and they were armed to the teeth. With knives and guns and pistols, he wasn't giong to escape---at least not know.

But maybe if he coorperated, he would give the some information....maybe he could loosen then up, make them think he was on their side...

Vex cleared his throat.

"Alright, it doesn't sseem like I have any choice", he said. "But I'm wasn't really with them for that long, so I don't know much either. but I know some. But give me your word, that I'm not going to die. Not under your hands."

The Nightcrawler exited FTL near a Desert Planet, they didn't noticed anything in there...


"So, as bad as we make contact with them, I will go down with mr. Davies, and I will deal with those guys about rescuing Addar..." Said I... "Then, I hope you've learned to fly this thing, Bayhes, cause you must go and return with the ship from an to this planet..."

"Yeah... It shouldn't be much dificult..." Said Bayhes...

"Now it's waitting..." Said I...

"Ah, good. Sir, would you follow me? I know my way around from here."

Mr. Davies led Joao over a sand dune to a bare rock face. Joao noticed a small discreet wooden door. Ioan on it knocked three times, paused, then knocked once again. At once it opened- not with a creak as you would expect, but with a hiss.
It was not an opulent base, more of a humble hideaway. Still, it had a large detatchment guarding it, and served well as a command centre.

"Now sir, how can I repay you and your colleague? I have guessed over the past few days you are no great friend of the current government," He grinned a bitter smile "but if you wish to go on your way without joining us, then let it be."

Doyle looked through the bars at Vex, an almost shocked look on his face

"You don't remember, do you? I though you had abandoned us, but perhaps something else is afoot"

"Yea well since I'm going to do this, i'll just tell you my story."

"After I abandoned you, well, things changed a lot. I was first considered an assasin among the rebellion. I killed alot of high ranking New Order People."

"Of course it wasn't long before you guys caught on. I was chased and chased, and captured, and escaped. I never saw any ally for nearly a decade I think."

"I started reconsidering the New Order. Their power and prestige."

"I was captured, but escaped. I stole a ship, but my ship was damaged and I crash landed on the North Pole of some planet"

"Of course, umm...", Vex didn't want to included finding the civilization, " I found a nother ship and when I met you, I was already having second thoughts"

Vex worked his way through, complementing the New Order when he could.

"So as I'm here today. I don't really have a choice. My Information is your information....now."

"But one thing--I would like to be reinstated. I'm sure you're quite familiar with my tactical expertise."

Now Vex was really confused with himself. He didn't know if he really wanted to rejoin the New Order. He would have to abandon his "frneds". But he never really joined the rebbelion. He just kiled some people.

Vex could join the New Order, and chase the Rebellion.

Or, he could undermine the New Order, and secretly work for the Rebellion.

" Ah, I wouldn't have to decide now," Vex thought.

Bayhes was left alone with his men on the Nightcrawler. He didn't want to do what he had to do next, but he had no other choice. He launched one of the few working shuttles down to the planet.
"Borrego, this is Bayhes. I'm taking the ship. can't say why, but you should have noticed I was up to something. I'm not completely heartless though, I've left you one of the ships shuttles on the planet for you. Good luck with Addar."
Bayhes took the ship out of orbit, and left. He plotted the course to L-15, which would take 3 days journey.

"Ah dear, your friend has not been so accommodating. Fire battery 1"

The misslies clipped the engines, forcing the Nightcrawler to land.

"Nightcrawler, this is Borrego, repair your engines and reset your course..." Said I... "I will send you the coordinates on the randezvous point when we recover Addar..."

"May you be a little less trigger happy, Sir?" Said I to Davies...

Doyle stood there pondering. There was still something Valkyrie wasn't telling him

"That's all for now. No one enter his cell, even if he hurts himself or asks for food." Doyle turned on his heal and limped out of the cell.

After having convinced the owner of this ship that she wasn't a threat, more of a mercenary, she went back to the med bay to work on Van Toren's body. She had used repairative nanites to work on the head wound, hoping they could fully reconstruct his features where the bullet had passed through. The internal injuries were healed thanks to the nanites, but the outermost injury was slow in recovery.

Doyle entered command and sat in his chair, resting his cane next to the chair.

"Any sign of the Nightcrawler?" Doyle asked

"No sir, none of our outposts have reported seeing it recently" an officer replied.
"Didn't think it would be that easy" Doyle muttered to himself. "Has any progress been made on locating their jumps?"

The same officer nodded his head.

"Well, that's that for now," Doyle thought, "back to square one"

Jaquelyn smiled as the head wound finally closed. She tapped a few buttons on a nearby console, and started the nanites in the rest of Van Toren's body to go active, making them jump start his heart and lungs to wake him. "Come on Toren, get up.. I spent atleast a few hundred thousand of Doyle's money in trying to bring you back with some very experimental technology.."

Van Toren suddenly gasped and started convulsing on the table, very violently.

This was insane.

Vex had been deserted in his cell for....well...what he thought was days. Time passed slowly, and even though it was only a few hours, it seemed really logn to Vex.

He was comtemplated his options.

Well, he could try to break out. He looked at the marines. No, bad idea. They would likely beat him up.

But, he didn't know if they were stupid--but problably they were trained to not take any of prisoners coercement.

At the moment, he was hopeless. He coudn't do anything.

Just wait for Doyle.

Jaquelyn stared, hoping nothing was wrong, but she held down Toren's arms, trying to steady him in her efforts. One of the on board medical personell came over and helped steady Toren's head. "We've never been able to bring someone back from the dead.. this is something new for all of us."

The Crimson Fire exited jump space above the trinary star planet. Doyle came down from his perch and paced command.

"This is their last known jump location Admiral" an officer said

"Well, they were here for a reason. Prep a drop-ship, I'm going down. I want two marine details ready for action in five minutes" Doyle commanded. He then exited Command and headed for the drop bay

Vex could feel the ship rock as it exited jump space.

They were looking for the Nightcrawler.

"Heh, good luck at that," he thought.

He was familiar witht he nightcrawer. A medium-small, agile, fast, sleek, rapid vessel. But it was deadly, and had many defense systems.

They would never find it. Or maybe...

Vex turned to a marin and shouted, "Hey you! Yea you! Tell your admiral if he needs some help finding the Nightcrawler, I'm always available".

Borrego was called to the control room... Davies was waitting for him...

"They've started their invisibility protocols, and engadged an highly experimental cloaking device there..." He said... "But if they enter inside the village radius, they will be discovered..."

"Which village?" Asked I...

"Senador's Oliveira one..." Said Davies...

"Ok, but why did you called be?" Asked I...

"Cause there's the rumor in there that you're dating one of her daughters..." Started Davies... "What's her name?"

"Rachel?"

"Yes, th..."

My face turned despered....

The Drop-Ship landed on the surface near the village. The marines filed out, guns at the ready. Doyle came out behind the marines, on a land vehicle with a dual mounted turret. Two Marines were also in the vehicle. Doyle picked up a wireless comm unit

"Move into the village, keep everyone indoors, if anyone leaves their residence... shoot them. All right, take us to the government building" Doyle commanded. The marines took off forcing people inside their homes, while Doyle drove to the main government building

"Can't you do anything?" Asked I to Davies...

"No... Not in time..."

"What was the usefullness of that village?"

"We used it to supply ships that were returning from raids to the Order... But last time we did that was 6 years ago..."

"So, they wouldn't trace the planet, if it wasn't for us, right?"

"Yes..."

"Damn..."

Doyle and the marines burst into the government building. The marines took up position at the doors and exits. Doyle hobbled in on his cane. Doyle looked around.

"Who's in charge?" he demanded.
An older man stepped forward
"I am the governor of this world" he replied

"We have word that you have not been entirely loyal to the New Order. You harbored new order fugitives and allowed them to escape, I want to know who all they had contact with"

"I'm sorry, I do not know what you speak of" the governer replied. Doyle pulled out his pistol and shot the governer in the head. His body fell to the floor

"Who's in charge?" Doyle asked. Someone else stepped forward.
"I am the senior representatvie, chief of staff, I suppose now I'm in charge"

"Who did the fugitives have contact with" Doyle demanded.

"Well, not many people, some shop keepers and whatnot, they gathered supplies....wait, there was a girl, one of them seemed to be involved"

Doyle's face turned from anger to mischief
"And where might we find this girl?" Doyle asked

"Crap... We're getting reports that they've shot the governor..." Said Davies... "Thank god the Senator is now at Scandia..."

"Scandia?" Asked I...

"Yes..." Said Davies... "It's the world that probably will be the Capital of the Rebel Nation..."

"Rebel Nation..." Asked I...

"What you guys are helping to build..." Said Davies...
