Darkjedi wrote:You don't have to have a romantic relationship with a girl to be happy and satisfied in life.

I'm not saying that I won't have one, but still... Not very many people come to appreciate that fact.

I don't have to enter a relationship right now. It's not like I'm never going to get the chance to again!

Time is precious, since most of us think that we don't have much of it.

It's maybe 80 to 90 years, or with technology, many might get into their 100's.

But as for me, I have an abundance of time, because I plan to live forever.

-------------------------------

So how am I hiding behind my religion?

My religion is what is the basis of my reasoning.

Why?

Think about this for a moment...

Who has more wisdom, a group of beings that have short, imperfect lives? Or, a being that has existed forever?

Which one makes more sense to turn to when you have a need for guidance?

Ummm, the bunch with short, imperfect lives. Mostly because they know what the hell they're doing, but also because they're the ones on the ground and have experienced the same stuff in their short imperfect lives.

uh, not really, as your short imperfect people are well, imperfect. and none of them know what the hell they're doing BTW, some of them think they do, but they don't. They have meaningless lives and are selfish and are only looking out for number one

Well, i dont want to start a religious argument here. But dont put your life in the hands of god. In the end you might find they're only hallucinations, and that you've lost a long time looking for support from that hallucination.

Also, you dont live forever, you just have those 80-90 years (the last few years being pretty crappy). So choose wisely.

Oh no, I was kinda going on a tangent there. What I said could have sounded misleading.

I was talking to Shem and the black man because they said I was hiding behind my religion.

But like I said before, I will probably get with some girl in the near future.

Sadly, that's true for the majority of people.

Ok, I see!

Well, "taking refuge in religion" would have been a better phrase to use.

then what does it matter if i live my life in a hallucination if there's nothing to lose? if life is meaningless, and let's say for a moment you're right, then why is it so bad to believe in God, that there might be an afterlife? If your belief is true, then it shouldn't matter at all right? And looking for supposrt from God is better then looking for support in humans

Note: I don't believe in afterlife. When I said I plan to live forever, I'm just saying that I believe in the resurrection, and that there is a possibility that I could make it out of Armageddon alive. (Since revelation states that there will be survivers.)

Good comment, you're making him think!
I was just thinking the other day about how happy I am in being religious.
I couldn't imagine what it would be like not having a purpose!

Umm, no, i still think that humans, even if sometimes easily corrupted and imperfect, are better than god, who is imperfect too (if he does exist, which i highly doubt).

Oh and i think you mean ''i couldnt imagine how it is to have accepted the harsh reality of life''.

No offence DJ, you're a good guy, especially considering what you've been through (most people hate everyone after something like that happens to them) . But i think religion is just wishful thinking and something to hide behind from the truth.

If he exists (which I do believe, I must add) then to me his perfection is proved by his restraint from involvement on our earth.

yeah, i'd keep going here, but thingy wouldn't be able to respond, but oh well, i'll close my point i suppose, i believe in an afterlife, not like the wat the Egyptians did, more of a continuation of life. and thingy, God is perfect, there is no evidence anywhere that he wasn't. oh and thingy, BTW, humans aren't sometimes easily corrupted, they are ALL born corrupted, including me. (ok maybe not my dad, i think he's perfect, but that's beside the point Smile )
