Yes people, the lasers are coming. The USA is developing weapons grade lasers and have started testing a big anti ICBM laser. They have made a ground test but the flight tests arent going to begin till next year. It's probably too big for a fighter or a rifle but it's likely we'll see laser armed aircraft in our lifetimes if this test works.

Heh, while using such a laser to take oil from other nations would be a good idea, I doubt we'd do it. But if we did, it would cost less American lives and we'd reap the benefits. But if I had any control over this nation, I'd probably force oil companies to shut the heck up as we try to create a better alternative. Like those electric cars... They needed some better engineering, but almost all electric cars were made by General Motors and suddenly shut down all at once, with all electric cars being pulled away from owners, as though the oil companies don't want us to know how to build electric cars and perhaps improve them from GM's specs.

It's a blood conspiracy, of course. I'd have those electric cars working and any black ops groups (and oil companies) trying to keep them from being legal would be smashed under the heel of my boot... Or some other violent means of making sure they back off.

Anyways, go laser weapons! I already have an ion cannon satellite built and hidden near a certain nearby astronomical object... But hey, cutesy little anti-missile weapons are good too. Just means no nation has advanced as far as I had feared they would XD

It wouldnt cost you any troops but the ones on the other side would get fried to death, and that's no fun death. If it's terrorists, go for it but if they're normal soldiers, i think the UN's going to have some trouble with that

Ok... Lasers... an excelent addition on NATO armament... they would help fight China when they go nuclear... if they go nuclear... also, it would help in case of an alien invasion... but they would have almost no effect against their mass destruction lasers, so, we would be dead...

well, we actually spent a unit in global history studying the UN. the UN would be OK if it weren't for the Vito. It's still very political, and will bend to the political whims of the five permanent countries. for example, the situation in Darfur is clearly a genocide, but the Un is incapable of doing anything, because china keeps vetoing any votes on Darfur, because China gets a good bulk of its oil cheeply from there
