Is seeing and Traveling in time possible
Time Travel?
lets just say I have been wondering if you guys think time travel is or is not possible and why. and also if seeing through time is possible.
Re: Time Travel?
no... because our presence there will change the past and then we are not living in our past but yes in someone else past (in this case, some us)...
Re: Time Travel?
I know its impossible to see most ofthe future. because we would only be able to see the fixed points. the unfixed is effected by the present and well if we know about the future we change the present. like say we find out that the girl you like will end up being your wife that will effect your relationship and so that may not become the future.
Re: Time Travel?
I think that there is no such thing as time. There is only 'now'.

Now that's a great true! I personally hope that time travel would not be possible!
Re: Time Travel?
I think it isnt you would have to start out of time and enter time to be able to navigate around it. that is why the time lords could have done it.
Re: Time Travel?
I think that if time travel was possible, just by going backwards in time, we would become part of an alternate timeline with no hopes of ever correcting it. If we, on the contrary, traveled forwards in time, it would be impossible to go back to where we came from, because the future isn't defined yet, and we would travel into nothingness.
Like that, the only moment when we would be able to travel in time, and it would have to be backwards, would be the last moment of existence of everything, where we wouldn't be able to alter the ultimate destiny of total annihilation.

Re: Time Travel?
that is a interesting but there is a currently a defined future of the present so it will be the future of the present. so travel into the future is possible but it is a paradox.
Re: Time Travel?
Well, I don't want to live a paradox, so, I won't be traveling forwards in time anytime soon... LOL
Re: Time Travel?
we can already see into the past. when we look at astronomical objects we see them in the past. the nearest star is 4 light years away. so, we are seeing that star as it was 4 years ago. if it exploded or something (lol) we would not see it until 4 years.(unless were looking at it through a telescope)

wrong if ya look through a telescope you dont see it sooner. its the same light its just magnifed. and anyway its not lookin back in time its a delay. its something that happend a long time ago yes but thats not lookin through time.

LOL... me too...
Btw... I think we need a sprite of a DeLorean... The tardis isn't enough... lol
Re: Time Travel?
LOL yes, back to the future
but time paradoxes don't exist...
think: every time a decision is made, say, comet impact or not, reality splits into one reality where the comet did strike, and one reality where it didn't.
say, you're an evil genius, and you go back in time to change history and let the comet strike, and you accidentally kill your past self, would you be dead too?
no, because the version of you which has traveled through time came from the reality where the comet didn't strike, and since you're not changing the reality you live in, just deciding which reality you live in, independent from which reality you came from, nothing happens to your past.
this proves that the very basics of quantum physics makes time paradoxes impossible...

I may agree with that but the problim is that quantum phisics is rarly able to be proven in reality.
Re: Time Travel?
Well... that's why they made a huge particle accelerator! To prove some of the theories!"
Re: Time Travel?
Physics. I hate physics. It's the most obscure, probably most inaccurate and undefined branch of science. And he was being sarcastic, Jtull. I think that much was evident.

Re: Time Travel?
I voted that I don't care... But...
I don't think time is tangible.
We just move through it, and that's it.
But, I do think that in other dimensions time may be non existent.
Think about it, God invented time, right?
And, he invented the idea of inventing things, and also invented the idea. LOL!
AHhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
My brain hurts!

Re: Time Travel?
true but since we travel through it. we should be able to speed up and slow down in it.

the problem is that quantum physics IS reality. how do you prove a car moves when you sit in it and cannot see?

Re: Time Travel?
Well, I think he's only talking about advanced quantum physics.
But, you do have to remember that a lot of it is only theoretical.

Re: Time Travel?
indeed. the problim with the realy advanced stuff is that it tends to break the normal rules of reality
