after world war 2 technology enhanced faster than suspected and the cold war never happened now in a retro futuristic earth chinese russian forces attack the u.s. and europe goes to war withe the middle east eventually beging the nuclear apoclypse but right before the bombs dropped immense undergrond shelters called vaults that were used to study humans in these situation are now being occupied so now these vaults have like a 1000 people and only one man, 20 men 10 woman and a pregnant jaguar also one that had only 1 man and a box of puppets you play as a vault dweller 200 years later after dad leaves the vault you follow him to find out where hes going.
