The Energy
Has you know, oil prices are as tall as a sky-screeper. That should mean that, in a near future, the petrol will finish.
And when I talk about in a near future, I don't talk in 100 years, I talk in 20 years!
If you know, there are signals that non-OPEC oil will finish in 2015, and OPEC oil in 2030.
Until then, we (mankind) need to find new power sources. Solar, hidraulic and wind energy are good complements, but aren't still ready to assume as a main power source.
Here, in this topic, post things about actual and future power sources that are capable of replacing the petrol.
Notes: OPEC goes to organization of petrol exportators countries! (I think).

Re: The Energy
Its Petroleum, not petrol. Solar power will not work, maybe battery power alone?

it was a short expression!
How are batteries powered, so?

When you say EMF, you say electromagnetic frequence, right?
Re: The Energy
thank you.
Meanwhile, I have made some research and this was what I find out:
Nuclear Fusion seams to be promising, but the technology is still so new to be used effectively (maybe in 2100 we can use that energy effectively);
Nuclear Fission is an actual technology, but people have more afraid of that technology than anything else!;
Natural gas, make less pollution than PETROLEUM, but is still a fossil fuel;
Antimatter/matter - too dangerous and we're still far from see it on usage;
Hydrogen - possible, we have the technology, but the oil magnates are stopping it's development!
Do you remember everything?

Re: The Energy
Nuclear fission. With Helium-3 from the moon.

Thats Nuclear fusion! Nuclear fission is what we made with the nuclear power plants!
Re: The Energy
No, I meant Nuclear Fission. Nuclear Fusion will take many decades to get working properly. Until then we should use nuclear fission.

Re: The Energy
But I think thait won't work, has hydrogen only release energy if we join it with Oxygen. I think that helium have the same principle.
Re: The Energy
Helium-3 is radioactive. It is different to normal helium

Re: The Energy
So, that why do you think that this is going to work, right?
Here is how nuclear fission works:
People have afraid of nuclear fission, so, that's might be a reason why your plan might not work.

Re: The Energy
i heard they are planning to build solar plants on the moon, and transmit the energy back to earth.It would be effective, as the moon has no atmosphere so the energy would just go straight to it.

Re: The Energy
It can be useful, but has I said before, solar energy is more like a supplement, and it's not ready to take a primary role on energy production. But still, how would the energy arrive Earth?
Re: The Energy
i think they were saying something about using sattelites to transmit it back to earth, but i cant remember.

Re: The Energy
I already read about it. A small satellite network, conected by laser beams, is going to tranfere the energy via those lasers! Right?
But still, many of those energies are very expensive! They, until certain point, won't cover the investment. What do you suggest about it?

Re: The Energy
i just remembered about something that uses hydro electric power, here is the link http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1031635/Meet-underwater-Anaconda-snake-solve-energy-problems.html

Re: The Energy
It might be a good solucion, or also a good complement. But I think that we need to think about develop the fusion reactors, as they would be the future of mankind!
Re: The Energy
yeah, but most countries are to busy researching new weapons (like Russia for example)

And USA (another example).
Re: The Energy
yeah.I really dont think we would survive a 3rd world war, espicially if it was america against russia

You are right. But still, if those 2 countries changed the weapons reseach fund to the fund of new types of energy, I think that Fusion reactors can be saw in a near future.
Re: The Energy
maybe in 2 years.And it would help if the germans stopped researching sausages.
