But was only changed into Dutch (in all languages except English and Welsh) not to offend the French, who owned Orange, Southern France.

The Orange bit is from the area in France called Orange. The title just stayed with the Dutch royal family. Just like they don't own Nassau any more. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Orange

well, Nassau is German. not surprising, isn't it? the Netherlands originally were part of all the small German states. only after the 80 years war they separated. you don't need to teach me something about my own country, mister.
