JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
Here, I will input the development of mine version of "Flashgate"!
Here is the order of work:
In Flashgate 0.1, I will change ships and planets names and description, but (if I don't learn how to change the sprites until then) you will continue to see Broken Mirror Sprites. (EDIT) I will only put milky way races, as I don't know very much about Atlantis Storyline.

PM Raffitz about giving you the stuf he already has. and Darkjedi perhaps too, because he must have had a source for it to put up on his site.

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
I already finish version 0.1 of Flashgate. It has the follow governments "ready": Earth/SGC, Goa'uld(Ba'al), Asgard and the Ori.
It also has 13 Planet names and descriptions ready
Has all ships from those governments (But we can still find ships from Earth Empire: Akira, Defiant, Galaxy and Intrepid classes)
And you can still find numerous ST ships.
EDIT: Ships armed with the type X phaser are far more powerful, as they are now armed with the Ori beam weapon
And the opening text doesn't appear
Here is the download link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/125508293/Flashgate_0.1.zip.html
Note: It is a zipped file.

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
And there is the Flashgate 0.2 (JPB18's version):
It has the Goa'uld (as Klingons) the Tau'ri (as Earth Empire), the To'kra (as Romulans), the Lucian Alliance (as Cardasians), the Ori (as the Dominion), the Aschen (as Tholians), the Asgard (as Vulcans) and the Replicators (as Borg - incomplete).
I already edited some planets names and descriptions, and the "buying" part.
I already edited most sprites (except some Tel'taks) and buying pictures.
Things to do:
Change all planets names and descriptions;
Change all buy menus;
Change some sprites;
Change somw buy pictures;
Change opening;
Change "battlefields" and enemies;
Change comm mensages;
Change stations;
And change Empires names.
But here is the 0.2 version of Flashgate download link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/126145329/Flashgate_0.2.zip.html
Please give your opinion about the game.
I must thanks to Darkwing, and Raffitz, who told me a lot of things about "Flashing", and to more people with smaller (but not less important) roles in the production.

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
Nice already... one thing, you may wanna change the sprites, and change your background to black. when you're playing, you can see white dots appear at the edges of the ships. also some hataks have weird lines at their rear. you may have to change these manually.

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
Yahh, I noticed that, but that is GIMP fault, as they only change one color (only that color, not similar ones) to be tranparent, but I will try to fix that.
EDIT:And maybe it is also Paint's fault has it creates that color variations.

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
And here is Flashgate 0.3!
It has all the ships incorporated, except the ubers (which will still be BM ones);
It has some new buy images;
The governments are almost complete;
The Ships plug in is almost complete;
The weapons plug in is almost complete;
I have almost incorporated the ST easter egg race;
I haven't still applied that big window turn into small window thing;
Station plug in is very incomplete!;
Planet plug in as some changes;
I already fixed the sprites problem.
And that's all I can remember.
But, here is the link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/128215109/Flashgate_0.3.zip
Enjoy it and then post your opinion.
Thanks to Darwing/jedi, raffitz and everyone who supported me!

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
First of all, hey all! I've been following the Flash Gate projects for a while now, and just now got around to joining the forum.
I am very impressed with all that you've done! I have a couple of suggestions after playing this for a while:
Ori Motherships (and a few others, I didn't make a list though) are waaaaay too big. One of them can eclipse a planet, making it annoying for those of us who like to use the mouse to hail it . I figure you were making all of the ships to approximate scale, which is an admirable undertaking, but it might not actually be feasible.
I realize that this is a result of having converted the old ships into tel'taks, but is there any way to remove the duplicate tel'taks for sale at many, many planets? Some get as many as four . I realize it may not be easy or possible, since there were duplicate ships for sale in the original Flashtrek, but...just throwing that out there.
Still and all, this is very impressive work
Oh, I double-cheecked, and some planets actually sell six tel'taks. But again, that might not be changeable.

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
the reason the ships are as big as planets is because the planets are meant to be hundreds of thousands miles away, making them appear small.

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
I know why planets are small, but it doesn't explain why at least three ships are about twice as large as the ubers in the original BM. Not to mention the fact that you never had to worry about 3-6 ubers eclipsing a planet you wanted to hail because you were the only person with an uber.

Believe me, when you're dominating a BM game your fleet will quite often cover the planet. Then you press 'h'.

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
I know, I've done it before, but it's not really necessary for just one ship to be able to cover the planet. I mean, from what I've read here, it's a pretty easy fix. Especially since at least four ships (Ori Motherships, Wraith Hive Ships, Apophis and Anubis Motherships) can do so.

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
Since I am using approximate scale sizing for the many ships in my own mod, I realize this slight problem and I too have fine tuned the sizes a bit. But there are still those that are extremely huge, especially space station-wise. In order to compensate, I make only the largest ones one-of-a-kind so that the player has to buy them and they're not actually government default. Still, there are two uber ships that will be in the game like the Borg, with huge ships and such that you probably won't be able to buy (that's the only difference between them and the Borg)

Re: JPB18's Flashgate: Game Development
Yeah that's basically what I was saying, it made sense for an uber to be of planet-eclipsing size, but it really doesn't work to, say, convert the Klingon Starbase into a 10x larger Goa'uld starbase, or the Negh'Var into a 10x larger Anubis Mothership, at least without moving the starbases away from the planet, or preventing Anubis ships from spawning. Much easier to just scale both down.

Man that has got to suck. I had a virus attack on my comp once because some idiot got on to some innappropriate sites. We got the trojan virus not long after that and our anti virus security software was able to get rid of it. (after 3 days i might add)

I can't make the Mozilla or the IE7 to open with that firewall. My pc has 1.5 gb ram but the motherboard was made for 512, so, it only uses 1 gb (someone told me). But I have Avast antivirus.
