Does anyone ever log in anymore?
I'm curious to know: does anyone ever log onto this site anymore? If you do, say hi!

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
Reporting in, and ready to finish what I started!
I've still been involved with the Flash scene recently, since I frequent the Super Smash Flash 2 development forums and occasionally play a game or two on Newgrounds. While there are newer and 'better' ways to make games today, Flash is still rather popular, and I don't think it should be dismissed offhand - especially after all the time we spent using it!

Hi Jerome! You might not remember me, I used to be under the name Toa Kaita on here. Darkwing made me his Number One after a while and the forum kind of fizzled out after that haha. Out of curiosity, JS, do you have any experience with C# or JavaScript?
Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
A little in JavaScript four years ago, but never really did anything with it unfortunately.

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
I honestly doubt I can help with it, especially in terms of programming. My understanding of JavaScript and C# is admittedly very minor. I'm not much of an artist or musician either.Destral wrote:I only ask because DW and JPB have been working on this, using Unity:

After seeing what's been happening with the Flash scene for a while now, I'm worried that any work I do on WUC will be brushed aside or laughed at. Many are claiming Flash is too old and needs to die, despite the spectacular progress (and notably active community) I've seen on Flash games such as Super Smash Flash 2. A lot of those I've recently spoken to from these forums treat Flash as a backwards and primitive (by comparison) form of software. So it may be that I'll have to leave WUC where it is: unfinished.
The last real project I recently did with Broken Mirror was a plugin that tried (somewhat successfully) to present a semi-realistic continuation of the mirror universe in DS9 (not STO). If anybody still bothers to play BMI, I can upload it, but it isn't as fleshed out as I wanted it to be.
Heck, if anybody really wants: I'm not sure what the version of WUC on my hard drive is, but provided it's basically the same as the one I gave to DW, I could try and make plug-in files for it. The only other thing I'd need to edit is the default faction relations to each other using an older version of Adobe CS (CS4, I think?). The game will still have its bugs and large file size, but at least it'll be out of the 'demo Alpha' stage and in some sort of 'Beta' (planets, world map, ships, etc. all finished - only thing left would be to seek out bugs and remove them).

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
Hello again!
When I joined this forum I was in middle school. Now I'm finishing up my sophomore year of university. How the time flies! I remember my first day like it was yesterday (made over 40 posts!)
And Jerome, I could go for some WUC
Apparently ST:BM is going to be made in Unreal now. Hopefully it will be released sometime!

Leach!
Holy God, bumping into this place again is like finding an ancient city.
It's like everything here was a lifetime ago...
I'm pretty sure I grew up on the internet here. Is everyone alive?
I wonder what happened to the vexxiang community? Their domain died years ago, but it was as if it were sudden.

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
Reports of my death are greatly exaggerated. And have been, for almost a decade now.
I shall refer you to this https://flashtrek.forumotion.co.uk/t252-rip-raffitz#8095
I'm going nuts with my master's thesis, but other than that, same old, same old.

Gosh, this place hasn't gone down! And a significant number of us have survived into adulthood!
Good luck with the thesis. Then you'll have a nice short break before a PhD

Back again!
@DJ: Holy shit, that thread was from before I joined. We were such an intimate group.. (no, not that kind of intimate... ) ..brings back memories!
I was always one of the youngest members here... and in a few days I'll be able to legally buy alcohol. Holy fuck how the time flies.
Has anyone heard anything about STBM? There hasn't been any word on that for a year now. Probably got scrapped, but I'd like to know for sure...

Yeah, you always were the young one. Holy crap, Shemuel is here too!
So, I think we should all do something together. IDK, play a game together?
If I had the extra money I'd probably buy that new VR Star Trek Bridge Crew game.
Maybe we could play cards against humanity or something? lol

Wow. So 9 years ago today I joined this forum. I think I made 40 some posts that day, some of which were no doubt spammy, considering I was only 12 at the time..
no idea how I remembered today as being the day I joined...

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
Double post time!!
But I'm posting some unfortunate news with this post. Flash has less than 4 years to live. It was a Flash game that brought us all together, to the point that we still communicate today (from time to time ) Take the time to cherish all the memories we've had playing flash games, since it seems we will no longer be able to play them anymore...

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
Meh, there will always be emulators.
I think kids now will look back at their crappy phone games and think the same thing.
Flash was such an amazing technology for games. Phone games - Their micro-transactions, and inferior-to-PC controls just often feel like hollow versions of the flash games we grew up with. I found myself reminiscing about them with a co-worker the other day. I always think of Flash Trek - Broken Mirror. The enthusiasm we had as kids and young adults for this game series and Star Trek in general was a rare gem.
The forum wasn't like Reddit, where everything was just one board. It had personality. Granted, Reddit is generally more practical, but I'll always miss the classic forums that I grew up with. We had a small community, but the friendships and fun that I made will stay with me forever.
Some days I wish I could go back and do it all again.

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
I'm glad to see that everyone is still logging in, even if it's just every now and again. I still think of each and every one of you and all the crazy times we had.
It's a shame about Flash, but you know what they say about all good things.

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
Damn. All of this was a long time ago. Hi All, I think of you occasionally and hope everyone is doing well. Those that I follow a bit on Facebook seem to be doing well. I just graduated college and moved to Los Angeles, California.

LEACH YES BABY! YES! Welcome Back BEEG BOI!
SO, when Star Citizen comes out (if within our lifetimes) we're all playing together. I won't accept no for an answer.

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
I think the Lions have a better chance at winning the Super Bowl before Star citizen is released
But yeah, if it ever comes out, I'm down to play it with you guys.
I think some people here played Starfighter: Disputed Galaxy? That game was the shit back then. And there's a sequel coming out this year!
Oh, and I found a game on Steam that reminds me a bit of the original BM. It's called Endless Sky and it's absolutely free!
EDIT: This is the only forum where you can be ninja'd after 4 months. I need to come here more often..

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
Crossed out the Endless Sky find eh? It does look promising thought doesn't it? l liked it too. The other game you mentioned, I've never tried.
Hop on Planetside 2 on the Connery server if you want to play something interesting. But only play with friends, or the game will squash you. Send me a PM if you ever download it (it's free) and want to play a session.

Re: Does anyone ever log in anymore?
Yeah, Endless Sky is great! Reminds me of good ol' BM. It even has a planet called New Switzerland!
I've heard of Planetside 2, and I've heard the same things you've said about it. If I ever decide to give it a shot, I'll let you know. Crusader Kings II was free on Steam a few weeks ago, and I had never played it before, so I got it and now I can't stop playing!
