Re: Cricket
Everything I know about Cricket I learned from that one episode of the Inspector Lindley Mysteries where a cricket star gets murdered and that once scene in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe where Ed hits the ball through a window and blames Peter for having bowled it. I used to catch games every once in a while when the AZN network schmoozed through the cable filters, but I had no clue what was going on.
Whats a good website to explain cricket to ignorant Americans who only know baseball?

Re: Cricket
I think that you use a flat bat. That's all I know. LOL! Oh yeah, it's similar to baseball.
Re: Cricket
No, no it's not! baseball is a game that comes from a game that is identical to baseball which girls play, called rounders
.
Cricket is: (here comes a load of edited WIKI)
a bat-and-ball sport contested by two teams, of eleven players each. A cricket match is played on a grass field, roughly oval in shape, in the centre of which is a flat strip of ground 22 yards (20.12 m) long, called a cricket pitch. A wicket, usually made of wood, is placed at each end of the pitch.
The bowler, a player from the fielding team, bowls a hard, fist-sized cricket ball from the vicinity of one wicket towards the other. The ball usually bounces once before reaching the batsman, a player from the opposing team. The batsman plays the ball with a wooden cricket bat and tries to stop the ball from hitting the wicket, . Meanwhile, the other members of the bowler's team stand in positions around the field as fielders, players who retrieve the ball in an effort to stop the batsman scoring runs, and if possible to get him or her out. There are many other ways to get out, some are: if your leg stops the ball from hitting the wicket; if a fielder catches the ball, hit by the batsman, before it bounces; or If the batsman is not behind a certain line and a fielder hits the stump with the ball. The batsman — if he or she does not get out — can run between the wickets, swapping ends with the second batsman (the "non-striker"), who is at the bowler's wicket. Each completed exchange of ends scores one run-but you must make sure that you don't get run out(like you do in 'rounders' in a way) Runs are also scored if the batsman hits the ball over the boundary. The match is won by the team that scores more runs.Cricket is thought to be the second most popular sport in the world.

Re: Cricket
Yeah, people often break things. A friend of mine got hit in the face and it messed it up badly. His cheekbone was shattered and it took him some time to heal.

Re: Cricket
What you really don't want to do is bat without a box. It is used to protect a particular part of the body.

Re: Cricket
I hate it when you're forced to play a sport. And yes, cricket is second only to golf as the least interesting sport to watch.
