Biography:
Growing up from a purely Starfleet family, Michelle was an only child. Her father was an Admiral and considered to be an excellent tactition/strategist. However, when Michelle was a teenager, the Borg invaded and he was killed at the battle of Sector 001. Her mother was on a deep space assignment at the time, the chief science officer and medical officer on a fairly small research ship. The ship was recalled after the Battle of Sector 001 had concluded. The death of her husband striking her fairly harshly, she resigned her commission in Starfleet and retreated back to home on Alpha Centauri.
Shortly after, Michelle took the only choice that seemed logical, which was to enlist in Starfleet. Blazing through Starfleet Academy, she was eager and ready to prove herself and to be there to help prevent any more crises such as the Battle of Sector 001 occurring. While at the academy, she displayed an excellent ability for leadership and seemed to blend the caring scientific side of her mother, with the strategist side of her father. It was near the end of the Academy when there was an accident. A radical terrorist group simply called Helios began to make violent protests on the capital worlds of the Federation. Claiming that the Federation was withholding critical knowledge about future events that would shape the universe from that point forward, Helios was simply regarded as emotional lunatics. Deciding that it was time to step up their campaign, they began bombing primary buildings and locations of the UFP, including Starfleet Academy. It was during a training simulation when Helios made their strike on Starfleet Academy. The explosion resulted in the building that the simulator was housed in to collapse, trapping Michelle and the other cadets. Most of the cadets in the simulator were killed by the falling debris and Michelle was pinned under several large metal beams.
Once rescued, it was determined that Michelle had been caused spinal injury. Spending nearly a year recovering, Michelle struggled and fought to walk. Meanwhile, Helios began to continue their campaign of terrorism. There was no evidence as to their origins or who was even a part of the elusive organization.
Once recovered, Michelle returned to the Academy and finished her training. She was immediately assigned to the USS Liberty under the rank of Ensign. The Liberty was a newly built Sovereign Class starship charged with patrolling the outer boundaries of Federation space. Tensions had been rising and Starfleet began to put more effort in patrolling its borders, paranoid. Spending several years on the Liberty, she was at the rank of Lieutenant Commander when the Solari invasion occurred. Immediately recalled to the front lines, the Liberty engaged the Omega Shadow Army but to no avail. The Shadows sliced their way through the territories of all organized governments mercilessly and without defeat. Seeming to have the ability to destroy anything and everything, the Shadows destroyed many planets, including Earth and Alpha Centauri. Trillions of lives were lost, including that of Michelle's mother.
The Liberty being on the front lines had become severely damaged which caused the deaths of the majority of the senior staff, along with over half of its original crew compliment. Suddenly Acting Captain, Michelle managed to steer the ship out of the way of the assault, saving the lives of those remaining on board. It was shortly after when the Shadow army suddenly retreated, disappearing with no trace left, other than their utter destruction.
Having set up a temporary command, Starfleet regrouped and the Liberty received slow repairs. Many ships had been destroyed and damaged and the entire Starfleet was down to under 50 ships. After several months of waiting and repair and with civilization collapsing, it was then that Starfleet enacted the Independence Protocol. Secretly outfitting a small fleet with more weaponry, Starfleet began to try and restore some form of control over the rest of the quadrant. Assigning Michelle as Captain of the Liberty, she was assigned to restore control by any means necessary, even if they countermanded any sort of moral training or orders she had once received. Desperate times called for desperate measures and those without direct influence were quickly falling into anarchy. With the Federation only retaining control over a handful of planets, Michelle set out on the Liberty to try and restore law and order.
