I still want my flying car
Don't you ever wonder what happened to the future?
I could rant about how scientific advancement and especially space exploration need funding from government types who have a lot more important pork barrel projects than actually trying to send a man to Mars.

Re: I still want my flying car
and I could rant of how we have the technology to do alot of stuff but we all hate each other too much and we're too greedy
Re: I still want my flying car
yea and we (and i mean everywhere but New Zealand) are not all that foucused on realy new stuff but we look at what we dont have yet and make a fuss.
Re: I still want my flying car
I agree. The world is torn apart by war, and the love of money. I don't think that, without God's help, humanity will ever be able to unite and accomplish the impossible. LOL! We can't even establish world peace!stewi0001 wrote:and I could rant of how we have the technology to do alot of stuff but we all hate each other too much and we're too greedy
Re: I still want my flying car

Re: I still want my flying car
No, because mankind was not created to rule itself. Well, this could turn into a really religious topic. Should I explain?
Re: I still want my flying car
money is basically an inmediate form of trade. Yes we could live with out money but that would be me getting religous as well. lol still getting rid of money would not solve greed and pride.
Re: I still want my flying car
Just a couple of months ago I was helping my son with a homework project researching Henry Hudson and other 16th and 17th century explorers. Most of the exploratory missions that opened up the American continent were funded by private companies interested in exploration (and making money off the trade routes and resources they could discover). The government heavily encouraged this (so they could get the taxes off of it). Even though expeditions were lost all the time to natural and un-natural (pirates, mutiny, natives unhappy about being forced into slavery) causes, it was considered part of the risk of the venture.
But companies these days have to worry that they'll get sued out of existence if something (like the mutiny that happened to Mr. Hudson) went wrong. If a space ship got lost or a crewman died the company would spend the next 30 years tied up in wrongful death lawsuits. All other private launches would be suspended for 5 years or more while the investigations into what went wrong dragged on with everyone involved pointing fingers of liability at one another. The other companies would loose mega bucks with their projects on hold, and then be forced to spend millions of dollars more making the tweaks and fixes the government would force everyone to make (just like they did with the airlines this last month).
That's why the flying car idea is taking so long to develop. They have to guarantee the things are impossibly safe. That even the most crazy pilot couldn't crash it. (The FAA certified Moller air car is still at least 4 years away from any sort of actual mass production - no one can guess when, or if, the insurance companies will OK the thing.)
So what happened to my flying car? Ask the Lawyers.

Re: I still want my flying car
Oh, I won't kill you because you're correct. We would have to invent warp drive, which is not plausible at the moment.
Re: I still want my flying car
@Getting rid of money- Now, are you really willing to trade a cow for a stalk of corn? I didn't think so. Monetary system>Barter system.
@Advanced tech- Definitely more to that than just health...

I'm good at science, just not physics, and I'm okay at English. I just hail you all as computing overlords.

Re: I still want my flying car
You mean, just me. I don't think that leewatson has any hacking skills.
I'm basically good at most subjects. My strongest subjects are:
Anything that has to do with computers, Math in general, History, and Science. I'm OK at English. I can easily write an S.A, but I really don't like writing S.As. I'm just lazy. LOL!

Re: I still want my flying car
Well, first you need to learn HTML. After you've done that, you need to learn Javascript. I'm not sure that you would take the time to even do the first part. LOL!
Oh, you can find ALOT of stuff on YouTube.
