Chevy Volt Vs. Toyota Prius

Though many of you may thing the Chevy Volt is an All Electric Car, its not, its a hybrid, and the Prius, is well the Prius.

Hybrid Cars are often cheaper to run, but costly to maintain in the long run, they tend to cost alot to be repaired, the batter alone in the Prius runs for a Minimum of $500 US, and the Volt that has a Lithium Ion Battery, well lets just say it must be exspensive to replace because from what i read, a 10 Year or 100,000 Mile Warrenty is something people get when something is exspected to break within that time, you dont get a warrenty provided if its not exspensive to replace.

The Volt
The Chevy Volt, not an Electric Car, its a Hybrid, i have discovered this in my studies, they want you to belive its an all Electric Car, but its a hybrid, this is because, even though it is driven fully by the Elecric Motor, the Gasoline Motor inside charges the battery as you drive, so in essense, you are still burning fuel, and there are modes, oh modes, everyone loves messing with the thousands of modes in the on board computer in their car to personalise it dont we? No we dont, its hard to find the gps let alone set the mode you want to drive in, it has 3 Driving Modes, Electric, Gasoline, and a Hybrid thing thats basically the regular setting, great, now lets find that over the hundreds of apps the car probibly has, never mind that its suppost to be entierly Electric, i mean, who makes a car a hybrid, and says its electric, its like me standing in front of a coal plant with a sign that says "Solar Energy Plant" It just doesent work. Not only was the hype about the car wrong, the car itself has gone through 3 difforent concepts in 2 years, they finially found out what it will look like, its also going to be a 4 Door Sedan like the Prius, thats great, you know though, the back seat of this sedan, wait, whats this, it doesetn have a backseat bench? Well i will tell you why, its got a battery running down the center consol, leaving little room for back seats at all, so you can seat 4 thats great, atleast its not a pickup truck that can only seat, oh wait, it might as well be, because some pickup tricks can seat 5 people (crew cab) so i have established that the Volt is not only got a stupid layout, but it carries less people than a Pickup Truck, thats great, great going Chevy. Ok, now to get to the Engine, (Finially) It has an Electric Motor, wich is all that powers the wheels, but guess what poweres the battery, yep, i have stated it before, the Gasoline Motor, there is however the option to run on purely the Electric or Gasoline Motors Separetly, well thats fun and all, but the Gasoline Motor only gets 37 Miles Per Gallon (6.4 L/100 km), ok, so that is like a regular car, but what does the Electric Motor get? 112 mpg (2.5 L /100 km) thats the equivilent of what it would get if it was Fully Gasoline, now, in Electric Only mode, guess what? the Gasoline Motor Runs if the battery gets betlow 25% charge, and it will run untill the battery is at 90% charge, not to mention if the battery is below a certain temperature or above a certain temperature the gasoline motor runs to heat or cool it, so remember, in the bahama's or Alaska, keep your car between 20 Degrees F and 40 Degrees F (or something like that) Now to conclude my review (rant) about the Volt, i think its a step in the right direction personally, but for Critics Sake, its a nightmare. I would give this car 2.5 Stars, for trying, but Chevy, go back to the drawing Board, get me an Entierlly Electric Car, then we will talk, though the one thing i did actually truly like from a Critics Point of view, is the Engine Monitering Panel, its Separate from the main computer and it is set up nicely.

The Prius, oh the Prius.
This car, its got an Electric and Gasoline Engine in it, its slow to accelarate and its only got 48 mpg (equivilent) using only the electric motor, the Electric Motor is nice and all in a quiet village were the speed limit is 5 Miles Per Hour, but as soon as you hit an on ramp, well lets just say, plug your ears, its Gasoline Engine roars to life and it propells you at a slow rate to the speed you want, then it decides, ok, ive got you to this speed, you can do the rest little underpowered electric motor, and the gasoline motor dies, and the little electric motor that stuggles to get you to 10 mph has to sustain 60 mph, on its own, yeah, that will kill your motor, the one thing this car has that the Volt Does not, it has Solar Panels on top, and it has a rear bench seat. This car lets you moniter your Engine Output, but then you decide to use the gps, or on star, it takes off the Engine Output Moniter and brigns up another screen, so much for that, the Prius has really been critisised to its limit, so i will leave this review at that, i will say this though, the inside of the Prius is very bland, i mean who likes grey leather and Apolstery mixed together, ew! Well thats it about the Prius. I would give this car a 1.75 Stars.

So overall, the Volt is the better Hybrid, but its a worse Electric Car, the Volt also has (it pains me to say this) a nicer interior than the Prius, the Prius is just so bland on the inside, the Volt actually has a nice interior,. aside fro mthe fact it only seats 4...If you are debaiting between the 2, if you have 3 Kids, get the Prius, if you have 2 or less, get the Volt, if you arent married and have no kids, get the Telsa Roadster thats an actual compleatly electric sports car.

A True Electric Car will never be truely electric, for the power that it recives from the outlet is fossel fuel generated most of the time, so untill we go green in the Production of Electricity, all Electric cars will be in essense, Hybrid.

I hate the Prius. It looks like a goddamn tampon on wheels.

The real question is, does the world need to run at 110 km/h?

I'd take an Alfa Romeo 159 over that any day, CO2 emissions can go fuck themselves.

Besides, the manufacturing and transport process for the prius emits an absolute shitload of CO2.

honestly, they're trying too hard. if they put the environment over human essentials and basic technology(which a car is not, but its heading that way. just look at my toilet designed to 'save more water...' yeah)then the human race as a whole will become too selfless; im not talking about putting other people before yourself, which is a moral, but of putting some random tree in Brazil before technology that you have known.

also: what about a Nissan Leaf? saw the commercials, is it any better at the whole electric thing?

Well since the Volt and Prius are the same, the leaf needs something to be compaired to, hmmmm, i will compair it to the Gee wiz.
