Job Suck
Many of us here on FT have jobs; some good, some crappy.
Now's the time for negativity. Apart from the good things, what makes your job suck?
Do you get poop thrown at you? Do you have to clean up poop? Pee? Vomit? Blood? Mucus? Anything that happens to come upon patient or floor, regardless of texture or odor?
Do you have to have perpetually repetitive conversations with your patients/co-workers that make you want to take a knife, cut out your intestines, and throw them?
Do your expressions of compassion feel increasingly mechanical, day by day? Do you feel less human? Do people become numbers, rather than people?
Does your job suck the life out of you?
Come on, come on, SPIT IT OUT! I'll probably be the one they have to clean it off of the floor. (LOL)
Ok, my pity party is over. Your turn!

Re: Job Suck
I don't get paid for my work as is charity volunteering but f*cking customers annoy me so much thats why i try and hide upstairs, in the store room. Especcially as they demand super quick service and everything occasionally you get a nice one and you cna have a chat with them. Also some of the staff are yea lets put it scary and others just plain boring. But the managers are ok aswell as a couple of the others. Plus free tea and biscuts so yea it's good overall. Maybe as they pay my busfare for college aswell which is very nice of them.

Re: Job Suck
The job you work at is your choice, if you don't like it, there's only one person to blame and that's you.
Re: Job Suck
I... What the flying F is it with you English dudes and tea? I have seriously not met a single human being who either resides in England or was born there who does not drink tea like a crack addict. Not one. It's scary.
And nah, I don't have a job. But when I did have one (the summer before this one), It was fucking exhausting. I was working the grill at this swimming... Place... You know, a place with a few pools, a kiosk that sells candy and a small grill.
The grill and the frying oil was several hundred degrees, and they were both on full power all the time. We were in the middle of a heat bulge, and I was too much of a newb to drink water. Yeah, I got dehydrated pretty fast. Till i learned to drink water like every 15 minutes.
Was still hot as hell though. But the customers were good people, they didn't DEMAND SATISFAKSHUN every 5 seconds or whatever. That's the good thing about Europe. People are mature/have good manners, unlike pretty much the rest of the world I assume... At least the US and Egypt.

Re: Job Suck
The brits are tea addicts! I wonder if they notice it though, since it's so culturally acceptable over there.
Outside job? Those aren't fun. I've worked in the heat, but not with friers. I sold watermelons. Completely different thing. I'm sure the customer demands sucked though.
See, with watermelons, customers would rather fight with each other than with us. I remember one time in particular.. These two old ladies got pissed off an went at it for the last watermelon. So epic... One had a cane. (When a story has a cane involved, it always makes it twice as good.)
Anywho, where I work now, there's a lot of snoots. See, my place has only uber rich residents. I have a few of the famous as well. (Often goes hand in hand with rich. Too bad I'd get fired and sued if I told you who.) I think it's interesting how much they tend to mellow out when they hit rock bottom and end up in the memory care, or nursing home sections of the facility; rather than their ritzy assisted living and retirement apts. (there are a few exceptions. eg, the famous German painter lady in memory care. Gosh, she's such a pain!)
I think that's when they start to realize that their money can't save them, or significantly prolong their lives. So sad.
Healthcare managers will tell you otherwise, but the residents loose much of their individuality when they get to this point. They become a herd of cattle. Fed in the morning, milked dry by medications and the frustration of living inside a prison, fed again, re-medicated, and then sent back to bed again. Day by day, packed in line in death's slaughterhouse. They exist, and that is all. Sure, some of them do "activities", mainly in the mornings. But dominoes, bingo, and sing-alongs aren't exactly what you'd call living. Heck, and only a few of those that are involved in "activities" can actually participate. The rest are in a dazed mechanical state. Minor decisions, like choosing to play one card or the other; become nuclear launch buttons ......... Ok, this post is getting to long. I will stop here. LOL But you see where I'm getting at.
The words of the Psalmist ring true:
"As for mortal man, his days are like those of green grass;
Like a blossom of the field is the way he blossoms forth.
For a mere wind has to pass over it, and it is no more;
And its place will acknowledge it no further."
(Ps 103:15,16)
All of the past lives of these people, they're almost meaningless here. And after the wind of time sweeps past, their remembrance will be no more.
Reality is depressing, isn't it?

Re: Job Suck
About tea... You don't know that most people in the rest of the west are coffee addicts don't you?
Re: Job Suck
If I haven't mentioned how much I hate my job...put simply, I hate it and I hate the way they treat me and my coworkers and just want to get out of there as soon as possible.
And on the subject of caffeinated drinks, I usually drink 2-3 16 ounce bottles of soda a day, not sure if that's anywhere close to the amount of caffeine in 6 to 8 cups of tea or not and I'm too tired to look it up.

Re: Job Suck
Jeepers, that's not healthy, heck even one glass of soda a day isn't healthy, if not for the caffeine, then the sugar
Re: Job Suck
Lets just say britain has a much stricter set of rules when it comes to food and drink compaired with the US

Re: Job Suck
Must be, because Americans seem to just do whatever.
Maybe you could get a job as a meat puncher?
@ Destral
Yeah, that will kill you eventually.
Paid to hit things? I wish I could hit people.Jtull wrote:I have a temp job working as a laborer. I take down chimmneys and get paied to hit things ok fine the hours suck though its a long freaking hard day.

Re: Job Suck
I wouldnt take it so far as to say it would kill him.
As for my job, i can't complain much. It's really easy labor, I'm a lifeguard/ Janitor for an indoor pool.
However it's enough to make me hate every single child or parent to step foot into the hotel. A few weeks after working there i had the "Humanity is screwed" epiphany.

Re: Job Suck
It will though. The sugar alone is enough to induce a heart attack which is generally pretty serious and if you're not lucky, generally kills you
Re: Job Suck
sugar alone can't give heart attacks, it's only empty calories. it might mess with blood sugar, but that's a diabetes thing.
