Warp Calculator?
I have been looking everywhere for a accurate Warp Calculator and need some help, does anyone know any that are really Accurate?
I found a few Stardate Calculators here.

(I do not know if they are Accurate Calculators or not)

Re: Warp Calculator?
I used to have one in the old Star Trek Magazines, well, it didn't give you the calculations per se, but gave you numbers like how fast exactly warp 2 is and stuff like that and from that you would probably be able to derive a warp calculator
Re: Warp Calculator?
Yeah, the problem these days is finding a Accuratly perfect one, or at least the most accurate one to the scale.

Re: Warp Calculator?
Warp 1 is the speed of light, wich is 299 792 458 miles per second, Warp 2 is double that, warp 3 is 3 times that and so forth.
Re: Warp Calculator?
Actually, that's not true, partly because the speed of light isn't a definable number
Re: Warp Calculator?
Yes but I can't really sit and right out what they all mean.
and I already know that Warp 10 (Transwarp) is Infinity, as you are everywhere at once.

Re: Warp Calculator?
WIKIPEDIA LIED TO ME!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
it said that was the speed of light, lol........
it said that was the speed of light, lol........
Re: Warp Calculator?
[Wikapedia always lies]
But what I was saying is correct as you are not moving through subspace, the warp bubble makes it stable enough to withstand the forces of subspace every time you enter warp.
Every time you enter warp more damage to subspace happens, hence why nacells like Voyagers are called folding nacells, they use the princable of folding space, the same as warp theory, isn't that correct?
So that means the warp bubble isn't doing anything but protecting the ship from the forces of subspace and just lets the ship generate a thrust the will propel space FTL but then it damags subspace as you go through it (Or as it goes through you)
But if you were going faster than light would you not just see black everywhere on the viewscreen? as you are traveling FTL it would just black out any light that comes from stars and suns therefore you would only seelight when the Warp bubble is terminated, that is why they need scanners on the ship so they can see what is happening when it happens.
So when the viewscreen comes on in all the ST series it is just Non-Realistic as they would not see light from the stars as they are going FTL.
If the U.S.S Voyager didn't have folding necells the damage to subspace around them would be Horrific. The fact that Subspace messages use the same princable, being able to send a hail or message at the speed of light would take time from a distance as it uses the same princable as Warp theory.
So when Captain Janeway submits that a message would have taken years, she would be more correct in saying that it would take exactly the same amount of time as it would for voyager to get home.
While on the princable of subspace messages, would it not take years to send a message to Starfleet Command from the Distance that the Enterprise-D was at? No because they set up subspace beacons which immediatly transmit the message to the decided location.
If that was so, then they could be made by voyager, although they would not be able to leave them anywhere they would be destroyed by the other races or stolen and modified.
So voyager's message would have taken the same amount of time to get to starfleet as it would them unless they sent is along a known subspace Corridor (Subspace line) it would get to the Alpha Quadrent and then sent through the Corridor and then reach Starfeet HQ not long before voyager would arrive.
Does this make sence?

Re: Warp Calculator?
How can the speed of light be that big ass number when we can slow it down to 30mph. The speed oflight for FTL and distance is how fast and far it goes in a vacum, but depending on whats it's passing through it changes ALOT

Re: Warp Calculator?
Yes but what it passes through depends on the system or planet, say this soloar system, it would pas through mainly spacedust which poses no problem and it is a current to what I said, you are pretty much asking how can it be that when it passes through things that are different.
The Warp bubble makes up stable matter for the ship to pass through and without it the force of that speed would rip the ship apart. the bubble also acts a a shield from subspace and space itself protecting the ship from the forces such as passing through asteroid fields for example.
and if I have to explain one more time what the bubble does and how it does it one more time I'll shoot myself
It's just so simple if you think about it.

Re: Warp Calculator?
well I have to say I have studied physics at length and Warp theory works. Also I may add that traveling faster than light mathematically is possible. The problem is getting past the speed of light, it is impossible to travel at the speed of light. I happen to know that space folding is also possible. It is theoretically possible to move space rather than moving in space. Also there are many ways to bend space but I shall not go into that.
However if I remember right warp 9 is something like 3640 times the speed of light.
I don't know if thats right or not I cant remember.

Re: Warp Calculator?
I already know this, and I'm only 13 as well
I spent 3 years studying warp theory and ended up learning this
and just multiply by 1 by 9 the speed of light and you will get your answere

so lets say they are moving at warp 9 (9 x speed of light according to you) something that its just 9 light years away would take 1 year to get to. At one point in the show they traveled 65.119ly, they could do it at warp 9 and it would still take more then 7 years. Can you see the problems in your theory?

Warp 9 they can traverse about 1 Light year in 30 minutes i think. Thou It did takes Voyager 3 Days to get to a Ship 15 Lightyears away. (Dauntless)

there are points in the show where they traverse 317ly. warp 9 much be faster then that.

You can't say you've learned Warp theory from an TV show, Real life Warp theory is hugely different to Trek Warp theory.

Re: Warp Calculator?
Well it does cause arguments between people on what the speed or scale of it is, but from most of the information I have gathered t is equal to all mass and speed, so it ends out being Infinity
(Thats My Theory)
But no one would really know how fast it is.

Re: Warp Calculator?
Well warp 10 contradicts it's self, in TNG, there is an Episode ware a ships move a t Warp 13, while in Voy A shuttle dose Warp 10

I guess that was because Warp 13 is easier to say than warp 9.999999999999999999999999999999973...
Also, Warp calculation doesn't use the * signal but the ^.
Like, if you go warp 1 you go light speed ^ 1... If you go warp 9 you go light speed ^ 9...
Re: Warp Calculator?
yes but warp 13 is probrably not past transwarp and that TNG ep is in the future.
so warp 8 would be [Light Speed ^8?
the question I have wanted to know is how many light years does 1-9 take?

Re: Warp Calculator?
Speed of light = c
Well warp One isn't actually c, it's several times c, Warp 9 is either 1000 something c or 3000 something c.
All Distances 1 Lightyear
Anyways
Warp one = Just below a year
Warp Five = Several Days (guess)
Warp 9.975 = 33 minutes.

No there are different scales for Time period, the Warp 9 of the ENT Era was Warp 4 of the TNG scale, And about Warp 7 in the TOS Scale.
The All Good Things Scale, Goes up to Warp 15, but no idea what speed comparisons are.

I'm saying I take what you say with a grain of salt. I learn via observation and I learn that you brag a fair bit and therefore, when you go boasting about your scientific genius, yet haven't actually proven it really, I become skeptical and put things in their simplest form, so whether or not it puts you in a bad light or is irritating is your choice. So it's not a matter of just "laying off" it's a matter of you proving to me that you are what you say.
As for a rough few weeks, life's a bitch, so it's all rough.
