Re: What stands out in your room?
I have a massive stereo. I am planning to upgrade it some time as well.
Re: What stands out in your room?
I'd like to have a good sound system someday and a projector too. Why go TV if you can do projector?
Re: What stands out in your room?
A huge Welsh flag. It fills the flat bedroom noticeboard quite well. May post a picture some day.

Re: What stands out in your room?
mine is a 400W old SONY stereo. I love it, it has no self protect so I can push it all the way. this is a fully analogue amp at less than 50% it will distort my speakers. I am gonna add another two speakers to it when I can and then maybe upgrade the ones I currently have.
DW a HD projector will not be cheap. also if your gonna do it buy a 3000 lumen projector and have it very far back

Re: What stands out in your room?
Please, you're talking to a guy who does projection for a job, 35mm, digital, 3d, i'm pretty sure I know what to look for in a projector
And as for money, that's why I said someday

Re: What stands out in your room?
well if you want a decent sound system belive me do no skimp on the amp. biggest tip I can give you is. buy a amp at least 15% more powerful than what your speakers can take. distorting a speaker is WAY better than the amp
Re: What stands out in your room?
Please, I work projection at a movie theatre. Though I may not be a sound techy per se, each cinema has a dolby 5.1 surround sound system of which I have to know how to trouble shoot to a certain degree. If it helps, our processor unit is roughly 13 000 dollars and each speaker has its own amp (processor is a CP500 I do believe, but I'll tell you for sure tomorrow, that's one thing I don't have to know is the serial number and make )
Re: What stands out in your room?
I run a soundcraft GB8 with a Center Left right managed output, main and downfold, 8 Aux each with its own amp. we are planning on spending I think 25,000 on subs. the system is worth about 80,000 I think currently. I also know how to hard patch a full theater lighting rig I built my own rig at my school (still in service). I also know how to soft patch lights.
I think we can kinda call it even in terms of hardware knowlege. btw its a 74 wayline hard rig and 36 dimmers.
send me specs of your system though I will try and find the ones for the one I use.

Re: What stands out in your room?
I'll have to dig out the old binder and hope that they're in there. I know we have a full tech manual on the 35mm but I'm not sure about the sound system. The system is older, at least 14 years old. Unfortunately cinema 3 blew an amp a few months ago, but it was an even older model that the company tested when they were first building the cinema and needless to say, they only used 2 of those amps for that cinema before deciding to use the other ones for the rest of the channels. But if this does give you any idea, we can (and are) running two channels of audio through one amp due to that one blowing out. Sound is noticeably weaker of course, but the company is def not gonna spend another 10 000 on an amp for us, especially one that can't be replaced because its too old.
Re: What stands out in your room?
Here, found a pic of the CP500:
There's another unit involved though that's not in that picture, one that actually works with defining the channels for the amps

Somehow that doesn't surprise me one bit.Shemuel wrote:A huge Welsh flag. It fills the flat bedroom noticeboard quite well. May post a picture some day.
Re: What stands out in your room?
yea basically that thing will run a codec and feed to each amp so will be using a multi threaded digital processor running to each amp and also giving the programed delays for each speaker for the given room, clever stuff. we have a similar box in our amp rack but its smaller since it does not need to decode and then process our one just does the delays and the signal processing required to make the amps work as we want them. They are great boxes I dont touch ours. Alistar would kill me. It's set up nigh perfectly. after that we have I think 4 or 5 amps I don't recall the ratings but ill find out if you like

i dunno, i enjoyed IV more 'cept for the lightsaber fight between vader and luke and when vader reveals the epic truth, the prequel trilogy was nowhere near as good as the original though

Re: What stands out in your room?
DW awesome. sorry I didn't get the info this week I had a hard time
Re: What stands out in your room?
They're very durable amps, like I said, we've been using them for nearly 14 years. OF course some of them begin to show their age with reduced sound quality or repetitive issues, but still, they're good
Re: What stands out in your room?
yea Amps are good like that they tend not to fail catastrophically, we got given two subs for the auditorium (hugely underpowered for the building) and the amp for that is probably 20 years old. heck one of the speakers is heavyer than the other I think the coil was upgraded in one of them
