well, i'm not really that picky. i do filming and fx and things too, and it's no fun if there aren't sfx in the space battles.

However the new Star Wars movies went a little overboard with the throbbing engine sound effect that every large ship (and Sebulba's pod racer) made.
The blaster sound effects were made by whacking steel cables (the ones that hold telephone poles strait) with a wrench and then giving the sound a little distortion to drop the pitch.
