Master Chief
Well, time to start a new side model. This is one that I'll pick away at when I need a change from some of my more important models and just need a break, so don't expect overly frequent updates
Re: Master Chief
Most of the model seems to curved. Most of the Cannon models of Spartans they have sharp edges. Either way nice Start.

Re: Master Chief
Yeah, AM by default starts off with curves. Right now I'm just roughing out the basic shapes, but when I get to detailing and refining, that's when I'll be sharpening the edges
Re: Master Chief
Ah, well i can't wait to see it finished.

Re: Master Chief
designing a suit of armor isn't like designing a ship,

Re: Master Chief
Indeed. I'm not a terrific character modeler either, so I'm using this as an opportunity to try and improve that skill. I have built characters in the past, but not ones based on reference material
Re: Master Chief
Try adding a skeleton (made or imported) then simply just model the armor around that.

Re: Master Chief
That would actually prove to be more difficult than modeling from scratch. Don't worry, AM is primarily a character modeling and animation tool, in fact, a bunch of tools that were developed in AM, were then used in programs like Maya
Re: Master Chief
It would, hmm i thought it would of made it easier.

Re: Master Chief
Nope, plus it add unnecessary patches to the model. It's better to use still images as rotoscopes and get your proportions from that, it will be less taxing on the program and won't get in the way when you're trying to edit stuff
Re: Master Chief
And that's why i suck at Modelling , and you don't.

Re: Master Chief
Well it was a good concept, it's just the application of it that was off. It all comes down to knowing your program and knowing your abilities with the program. And like I said, I'm not a very good character modeler, organic stuff just isn't something I've really developed, though I've spent 5 years building space ships and stuff like that
Re: Master Chief
in 5 years you an do a lot of stuff, I've only tried 3D last year. I've just never advanced, and now i's stealing your thread. [/stops complaining]

Re: Master Chief
That's OK, it's a good conversation, that's where OT can become all right here sometimes, it's also how we get post count up on the forum
Re: Master Chief

Re: Master Chief
I want a sig like that... and Your doing your best with what experience you have, and learning even more from the practice your getting now.. I couldn't do it because I don't have the patience.. I'm bouncing around from one thing to the next... though I'll tend to stick to writing something such as a poem or short story for things
Re: Master Chief
what do you want for a sig? I shall point you in the direction of the avvies and sigs thread:

Re: Master Chief
This is the best character I ever modeled. However, the body I manipulated to be what I wanted, I didn't build from scratch. And someone else built the gun
